I remember the SpLaT magazine giving a rating on the quietest barrel. I think it was called the ninja or something like that... although I heard that accuracy sucked.

That's not discussable on this site nor is it tournament legal.

Freak w/ Teardrop front is your best bet for accurate and quiet.

Are there any other forums that we could discuss silencers more on? If so, tell me where.

bdaniel08

nope, it's illegal, although type it in on google and you might get some results

Are you sure? I just got done reading something saying that all firearms that operate on chemicals(gunpowder) are not allowed to use silencers, while gas(Co2, N2, Air, ect.) powered firearms are.

The stealth might be quiet but I heard that it is hard to clean and it shoots like sh when it isn't cleaned right. Plus, from what I've heard, internal rifling doesn't work as well as reviews and ads make you think. Or does it?

No rifling doesn't work but you asked for the quietest barrel. It's the quietest barrel but not exactly the best. It's true that it's hard as hell to clean.

Is it still a popping noise? Whoever can invent a barrel that is close to being truly silent without the aid of a silencer will be a rich person for the rest of their life. I can tell you that much.

Personally I see no point in a silent paintball gun. Tournament players won't need it, and even if it is quiet, it still makes noise. I can see where you're coming from about the woods and stuff, but your best bet is to get aonething like an all american or progressive and shoot when others are shooting to cover up your shots.

i agree, it also depends on the gun your using, if its a spyder i doubt it will be as quiet as a cocker, as i was once told, it would be clsoe but i doubt it. if your using a spyder not much can help you, but a little matters?. if you want a quiet barrel, get a teardrop, they are the progressive except look secksier and the porting makes them a little quieter IMO. Or if you have more money, a Ultralite or Ti-Boomy, or even a freak with teardrop front, would be nice.

You are right in saying that a silent gun/barrel wouldn't be needed by tourney players but it would absolutly be an excelent idea for us wood gamers.

Most people with some common sense strive more for accuracy than a quiet sound.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be helpful, but there are ways to cope. Trust me, I play both woods and speedball and both are great In scenarios, stealth is excellent. I'm not saying be an uber l337 snyper or anything, but knowing how to draw less attention to yourself is a great skill.

Stay away from boomsticks of any sort if you want quiet, they have a rather distinct signature (more or a pow sound, rather than the standard "pew". My all american on my spyder was very quiet. The all-american has more porting than the freak front. My all americ on a spyder next to a boomy on a cocker was more quiet than the cocker.

If you decide you need to be stealthy, plan a distraction. Shoot when others are shooting if you can. Conceal yourself.

If you guys know something about how I play maybe you'll understand why a quiet barrel would be good for me. I'm either charging in plain sight, or I'm in small 1-3 man groups that scout around until they find the enemy, fire a few shots, fall back, and come at the same group from a totally different direction. That almost always causes them to either have extreme doubts about where they think the main body of my team is, or confuse them in an extreme number of ways. A quieter barrel would allow me to confuse them more. What would you do if all you heard was paint flying by you and hitting trees, but no sound to tell you where your opponent is exactly.

Were talking about an A5 here, not a Trix; it's not going to be that quiet. Once you play more paintball you will realize why paintball is more of a sport than a war reenactment. Woodsball tactics imitating war tactics don't work all that well.

Hey, I will admit that I did first try this when I was just starting out, and yes, at the time thinking that it was like a war re-enactment or something. It worked when I did it, and now that I view paintball as a sport, I still do cuz it works well where I play at.
