(I know this is probably the 2034th post like this, but this would be the easiest way to get all the information in one place, Thanks)

Hey, I've played paintball a few times and I'm considering getting into rec playing, getting my own gun, etc.
The gun I'm considering getting is the Spyder Compact 2000, mainly because of the price and customizability.

I'm thinking about getting an expansion chamber, a drop forward, and getting some after-market barrel. The thing is, however, I don't know which ones to get because there are so many of them out there.

I know the biggest thing about the barrel is the barrel-paint match, so if you suggest a barrel, could you say which paint is best for it?

I'm open to other suggestions. (and please provide links to the sites that these components are available at) :D

(Also, my budget is pretty low right now; around $200)

the spyder x-tra is a good choice; it comes with an expansion chamber an d. foreward stock for $165 it would be cheaper than buyin' a 2000 and upgrading also get a $40 J&J ceramic barrel:D

They xchamber on the xtra is worth less, and the drop has almost no forward, Just get a tippman and a new barrel and forget about it.

Where is Hsuve when you need him with all of his Spyder info?:D

I would get the compact and upgrade it how you want it. If you are just going to get a new barrel and upgrade slower then the Xtra would be the best choice. I personally don't like tippmanns at all. They feel awkward to me.

My vote goes to either the Xtra or Shutter....or maybe Flash if you can afford it. Spyder makes good stuff, and the stuff they put on the Shutter performs well. The guns are durable (had sand shot through mine by a newbie, is good as new) and affordable. I have a JJ ceramic and Powerball works great in it. Wal-mart paint that works would be....um....RPS Super Swirls. RPS works pretty well in general with the JJ. It's small/medium bore.

Anyone who wants my oppinion, sure, I'll go ahead and say it, Go wit' the Tippmann 98 custom. But if you had your heart set on a spyder go wit the comp 2k either way the 2 are really great guns.

the xtra is a great gun. it is vert feed, has a foregrip and a mini drop forward already, but this is not what i would go for.

buy the compact 2k, try to buy it for a cheap price, new or used. probly new, because it's only 80 bucks new. Then buy an aftermarket barrel, lapco bigshot or cp barrel, that will put you around 120 bucks, and your accuracy will be better than the stock xtra. since there is no foregrip, you will want a good regulator or x-chamber. try to buy a used WGP reg for 20-30 bucks, or just buy an expansion chamber. the reg will benefit you when you, or if you, change to HPA. You need a bottomline kit, and i suggest steel hose. this will put you to around 200 bucks. I presume you will run co2, so buy the tank of your choice, or just buy the gun in a package. overall the package will be more expensive than the xtra, but will perform better. i probly forgot some **** there, but do what you will...

a con about the c2k... it's powerfeed. it's not really a con, it's probly better than standard feed, but i would much rather have a vert feed.
