I am really considering getting a freak, my stock is a decent barrel and the Lapco i have is good too, but i just don't get the match i want, so i get the freak and my problem is solved. But for all you guys who have used them on LP guns, which is better a 10 or 12, the 10 only allows the back piece which is 6 inchs for acceleration and the 12 allows 6 plus 1.5 (before it hits the porting) so i hear you need 7-8 inchs before the ball is traveling faster than the air behind it. What is you guys opinion on the matter? (Someone must be using this set up, so please reply)

Just get whichever it doenst really matter. You wont see much of a difference between the 2 inches and its fine on LP guns like yourself.

Do you play speedball alot??

I don't play speed ball that much, but i plan on getting into it more, but if you guys don't think the extra 1.5" of accreation zone will help then i will go with the 10.

The reason i was wondering about this is LP guns use the barrel to accelrate, were as HP guns use the barrel to deccelerate. Volume over pressure. And most people say that it needs 7-8 inches to do this. I was just wondering if anyone had noticed any difference from the 10 to the 12.

You wont notice much of a difference between the 10" and 12" other than the 12" is 2 inches longer ;)

The barrel is fine on LP use. The ball needs 7-9 inches to accelerate. The reason why I asked if you play speedball is because that most speedball fields are pretty small and 10 inch barrels are great with small fields.

Will porting lower range? Im facing a dilema b/c i want quietness and range, and porting makes it quiet but does it lower range?

PS- will low pressure make a gun shoot quieter? I ask because if it does, i can just get a heavily ported muzzle and have the same effects on low pressure as i would with more porting and not low pressure.

nothing can lower range execpt for velocity and the weight of the paintball. the only thing i am wondering is if i will have to raise pressure because the ball cannot accerate to the maximum velocity in the smaller amount of acceration room in the freak. but i think i will get the 10" eitherway, i doesn't really bother me to have to raise pressure a small amount

Yes Low pressure setups on most markers will make your gun alot quieter and you'll get better gas effiency and less "kick" in the gun.

Ok i think i have figured it out:

Paint/barrel match is a great facter in accuracy
Porting cannot affect range
Mediumly ported barrels do not effect efficiency (based on what u told me)
Porting makes it quieter
longer is not better
low pressure makes it quieter and more efficient
ported muzzle also doesnt effect efficiency

Based on those facts, i think i will get a multiple switch barrel (6 inserts) with a ported extension (mediumly) and a ported muzzle
(Silencer muzzle) Some guy said that setup was amazingly quiet (not that i care that much about it, but if it is thats cool) and very accurate

Medium bore barrels dont effiect effiency, but some say that the tighter the bore (small bore) the better gas effiency.

I was talking about mediumly ported.
So i should get a small adapter for best efficiency? (The part u put on your gun comes in 3 bore choices, but does that matter b/c your just gunna be shoving inserts up them)
