hey, I just got my Halo B. I tried it out yesterday w/ my RT and it never skipped or chopped. Whoever said that a halo is too much for a Tippmann obviously hasnt seen a finely tuned RT.

Anyway, I havent had any problems w/ double feeding yet, but I was wanting to go ahead and get new detents while my gun is still under warranty. What could I tell them to have them ship me a couple of new ones. I will pay for them if I have to, but Im not paying 6 bucks to ship them here. I will buy 5 dollars worth of detents IF they will put them in an envelope and put a 37 cent stamp on it. Even 60 cent postage is tolerable.

I would really like to get them for free. Do you think that if I call tippmann and tell them I have a Halo B and a fairly new tippmann and I want some new detents, they will send them for free?

if not, will countypaintball ship things via USPS for cheaper postage on tiny items. I dont wanna pay a flat UPS rate of 7.50 to ship a few 1.00 detents.

just tell tipmann you broke your old detent and ask them to send you more than one in case it happens again.

I just emailed them and told them the truth about the halo and all. They directed me to the sales dept. So much for customer satisfaction eh!

I would rather spend my money at countypaintball if they arent free. Or if they are more expensive than county.

SO much for being honest.

its not like its going to break you buying new ones.....did you ever wonder why stores are raising thier prices....

here is an example, someone steals from walmart and does not get caught..now walmart is out of that money, so what do they do, raise the price on other merchandise to make up for their loss...simple economics...one person gets something free while all the rest of us pay for the freebie that person got.

you just got a new halo so you arent hurting for money pay for new detents and help the rest of us out....

rant over

Tell them you accidently ate it...

Actually, make your own. Go to the hardware store and pick up some harder rubber material. Cut you detent out and sand it till it fits. Ive heard of people doing this before, never tried it myself but I don't see why it wouldn't work...

So much for customer satisfaction? They've got no reason to send you a free one. You didn't lose it, it didn't break. There's nothing wrong with your detent. Why then should they send you one or more for free?

Think about that.

Now Mike, however, might be able to do the USPS thing. Just email and ask him.

My vertical adapter did not lign up, so I sent it, and the marker in. The gave me a new VA, installed it, and I asked, and they gave me 2 ball dentents for free. Just have to ask, and they already had my marker there, no extra shipping.

Gotta agree with Turambar on this one.
Everything people are getting for free now, is just raising the cost of the new gun...

County's got a $10 minimum order policy, but Mike might be able to help you out... I know, on the county forums he's mentioned he'd send out USPS.

Maybe Tippmann would send it out USPS.

so let me get this. Some of you ppl think that inflation is because ppl are steal small detents or walmart items. You couldnt be more wrong. Corporations are raising prices because of inflation, and because the CEOs salary is 4 million dollars a year, but it isnt enough to pay for his family trips to europe. Gimme a break. I can afford detents, but I have already been overcharged for VAs, RT, and other geniune tippmann products giving them hundreds of dollars and they cannot simply ship someone a few ball detents? now I get flamed for that.

Out of the billions of dollars that walmart makes, not counting the life insurance policies they take out on their senior employee, and collect 2 million dollars upon their death whether they retire from walmart or not. Shoplifting accounts for probably less than 1% loss in their revenue. Whoever said that inflation is the side effect of stealing has no clue about the millions that are probably stolen by the top executives in the comany. But, thats all good because they contribute to Bushes campaign in return for laws and policies that benefit them in a major way. Why isnt that illegal, how come nobody cares about that.

I wasnt asking for a lie to tell them, just an excuse. I ended up being honest. I know they dont HAVE to give detents, but I think that if someone really thinks about it, it wouldnt hurt them to send some for free. ITs just 3 detents man! Ill bet the stamp of sheets of 1000s of them. It makes good business sense to satisfy a customer. It keeps them happy w/ your company and keeps them coming back. That is customer satisfaction.

Besides I was even honest about it. I see how ppl reinforce honesty and good behavior..........flamingand criticism.

its crazy the price we all pay for replacement paintball parts, or even upgrades. a detent at my local shop runs me $3 plus CA sales tax....for a piece of orange rubber??? its all crazy. im sure we all have gotten a little steamed when we have overpaid for some dumb part. i think yak has every right to go and ask tippmann to ship over some detents. i bet it cost tippmann like less then a cent to make one of those frickin detents.

They should send you some. I'm lucky because I have a guy who plays for the effect, so I get things for half price because I always give him pretzels. I'm getting an e-bolt kit for $120 with an uncapped board.

Yak tried to go the honest route. Good for him. There isn't any need to go flaming him for trying to ask for some freebies. He asked and Tippmann said no. They both were well within their rights to say so.

I'm pretty sure he's not going to be causing inflation anytime soon.

Yakitori just go buy a bunch of them and sell them on the boards.

I'll be simpler and you don't have to worry about getting them for free. You'll have spares and we'll probably get ours from you since it will probably be cheaper.

Heck you might as well even wait till your next paint order if you don't need it right away.

At this point, it's no longer targeted towards yakitori's original post.

$3 is overpriced for detents. but would you rather

A) Have to call a 900 number for Tippmann tech support.
B) Wait on hold for the 'next available operator' for 20 minutes.
C) Talk to someone in India, as Tippmann outsourced phone center operations to reduce expense.
D) When sending markers in repair, pay for workmanship.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but they're in the business to make money. Those free things that are taken for granted, Tippmann could charge for. Tippmann has a well earned reputation for taking care of their customers. It goes beyond sending out free parts.

People shouldn't bash Tippmann's customer service for not sending free stuff.

This kind of cross posts ALLGROWNUP's other thread about whether or not MADE IN THE USA matters, but I think the 98c is a well made product and the expensive upgrades/parts are worth the 'Tippmann surcharge' to me.

I give the community credit enough to be resourceful. You don't need to order a detent from Tippmann, you can go fashion it out of a piece of rubber. After procuring the material, it might take you a ten minutes to trace and cut a couple of detents. Then (if those worked) you should feel proud that you saved your self that $6 (less material) it took you to make those.

-or-
As Cyp3r said,
buy 10, get them at a reduced rate from County (and ask for USPS) , and sell them to your friends or people on here for $2.50 shipped. If you did that and sold 8 of them, it would practically pay for your 2. Face it, everyone that has a tippy's going to lose/damage one at one point or another.

well, I dont want to tell them that it is double feeding because they may want me to send the gun in just to replace a detent. That would be even worse business than the former. Anyway, I will just mail them a letter to the top ppl and CC the office manager of Cust. Serv. and tell them the experiences I have had w/ them. The first time I ever called tippmann for anything they told me my order shipped 10min. after I placed it, and even gave me a fake tracking number. and then hung up on me. Now they cant give me new detents. Gimme a break. is the crappy little orange cheap plastic detent the best idea they could come up w/ when they designed the gun. Its not my fault that they wear out. bad design.

thanks guys

well, I just called tippmann and spoke w/ someone who sounded knowledgable and friendly. He said he will send me the ball detent for free. I mailed in my warranty registration card, so they have me in the system and said I was still covered under warranty. They didnt give me a hard time for once. Cool. No need to buy a bunch of them. Next time I order some paint, and other stuff from county, I will just throw in a couple detents.

I bought a "detent" from Tippmann for my Pro-Lite, but they called it a ball latch, I think....

It is a little piece of orange rubber that stopped my Pro-Lite from shooting 2 balls.....
Is that the same thing that you are all talking about? :)

Glad to hear it worked out for you, yakitori!!!!

I just ordered a new spring for my Pro-Lite and tried to add an A-5 Double Trigger to the order 20 minutes later, but they said that they already sent out the spring.... :(

Last time that they mailed my "detent/latch" to me, I had it in 3 days....That is great service, if you ask me. Luckily, I have only had 1 Good Experience and 0 Bad so far. :D

I think their customer sevice is great. I recently thought that I lost the rear bolt o-ring so I called them and the fellow I talked with asked me when I bought my gun which was in June I think. Then he said he would send me a $6 o-ring kit for free even thought the warranty doesn't cover lost parts.
I later found out I was looking in the wrong spot and I hadn't lost the rear bolt o-ring. Silly me.
