yes they are a good beginner to intermediate level gun they are basic to start with but cn be upgraded with a wealth of aftermarket products. Guns similarly in the same grouping you may want to look at would be the pirahna or a tippman model 98.The tippman the piranha and the spyder have more or less all the same upgrades available and perform rather on the same scale give or take very few exceptions . Really any of these mid level markers will perform equally as well and the difference left untold unless a higher so it becomes more of a matter of looks or prefernce unless a higher caliber marker such as a cocker , shocker , mag or angel are introduced into the picture.

no problem and yes if you plan onb playing in any extreme temperatures.... such as way cold way hot definately get a spring kit they may mean the diffeence between playing and sitting the game out because of too high velocity or too low...it's not a bad investment to have springs handy this is of course assuming you are playing with c02 and not nitro

Before buying my current gun (BOB LONG INTIMIDATOR.. BOUYA!!!!) I had a spyder compact 2000. I loved that gun, I got a ton of upgrades for it too, Venturi bolt, armson stealth barrel, expansion chamber, bottomline, pressure guage, drop forward... the thing I liked about taht gun the most was completely customizing it. Sure there are alot of shutters out there, but they all look the same because you really dont need upgrades. Go with the Compact 2000, great price when you first buy it, and you'll have a complete blast upgrading it.

If something ever goes wrong with your gun (Something goes wrong with ALL guns so more like "WHEN" something goes wrong with your gun) Spyders are very simple to understand how they work, and repairs are also very easy. If you cant do it yourself, every airsmith in the universe will know how to work on a spyder, so that's also a big selling point.
