HI
I got a piranha VTL G2 for free the last time I went to a field.
I recently ordered a Venturi Bolt, Ram air low pressure chamber,
16" Tru-Flight barrel, VL Revolution 9 Volt Hooper, gas-thru forgrip
with Bottomline kit, and a 20 oz CO2 Aluminum Tank
I spent a good $170.
Do you think that this was a good idea?
Do you think that I would have a pretty good gun after I make
these changes?
What other Upgrades should I do to have a decent maker?
I'm kinda new if you didn't notice  - what parts in your gun should be oiled?(b4 and after play) and what oil should be use?
I thank you for any help or information that you can give me.

Looks like the only things you need now are:
1. Regulator (more consistent fps; plus you can go LP if you want)
2. Drill out ASA (you'll make better use of your RAM Air)
3. Trigger Job (make that Revvy work for a living)
4. If you're getting good fps after switching to the venturi bolt then you won't need a Turbo Valve (unless you go LP)
5. If you're going to use the CO2 long term, convert it to an anti-siphon tank. It would be better on your reg.
6. If you're looking for something better, sell the CO2 tank and get a Compressed Air tank & scuba setup. It's cheaper in the long run and is much better with fps consistency. Plus, most CA tanks have a built in regulator.
7. You'll have one consistent marker.
As for the oil, use an all synthetic oil like KC. You might ask your Paintball shop for a recommendation if you're not sure. DON'T USE REGULAR GUN OIL LIKE THAT FOR REAL GUNS. THAT WILL CLOG UP YOUR MARKER.
Oil all moving o-rings and along the shaft of the hammer and bolt.
hope this helps.

Thanks for your info...
Now do you think it was worth the money?
I just read the Barrels/paint forums about long barrels and how it's not true that "longer barrels give you better accuracy and length"
so i'm kinda  about the 16" Tru-Flight barrel with Spin Free Projection... what do you think?

If you like long barrels then get one. They wont give you any real advantage, its all in the kinda paint that you use that matches your bore size of your barrel.
Some players like them because they easier to aim down the side of the barrel, but some long barrels can be a gas hog.

Yeah I'm going to play with it and hopefully I like it ....
Does anyone think I should have just bought a marker for what I spent on the upgrades?

Tru-Flight barrel with Spin Free Projection
Heh, PR in paintball is funny. Tru-Flight is selling on Spin Free Projection, while Armson has rifling in their barrel to make an attempt at causing the p-ball to spin.

I think the mods were definitely worth the trouble. Now my gun is exactly the way I like it. And it is very consistent. Our field limit is 270fps and I'm within 10fps of it at any one time. I don't need to adjust my fps everytime I walk onto the field.
As for the barrel length, I find the 12in just about the limit for front running and sniping. Depending on the game type, I do both. I like front running better, so I would actually prefer a shorter barrel. But shorter barrels don't give quite the accuracy when you need to snipe. So I settle on a 12 incher. I've never shot a longer barrel so I can't attest to their accuracy. Also, the shorter barrels are inherently louder since they can't have much porting down the length of the barrel.
Hope this helps you.

I put everything together.. It works fine so far..
I had no idea how tight I should put the velocity. Is there any way to know without the chrono thingy.. ?
I just want to know so I can get a feel on how it would work on the field. I think the field limit is 300
if anyone can help ..

It's very difficult to guess your fps w/o a chrono. I had the same problem when I started to mod my gun.
What I finally did was to get it working as best I could at home by estimation; then chrono at the field.
When I got home, I made sure not to change the velocity setting so I could be at a known fps.
Hope this helps.

I guess I have to just wait until I go to the field.
When I had the velocity low the gun sucked big time..
But when I put it up wow:eek: I couldn't miss my target.. I hope it would be the same at the field :D
I want to thank everyone who replied with a suggestion or comment ...
If anyone with the same gun wants to post questions about possible upgrades feel free to do so
Thanks
