I am doing a project for my GT class (Gifted and Talented) and I'm going to set up a tri-fold in the gym. I'm making a hand out to get people in the sport. Please post if there's something you would like me to change, it's a little long for a hand out, but here it goes....
So you’re getting into paintball?
If you are getting into paintball you are most likely wondering what marker (gun) to get. There are all types of markers out there in the paintball world. The two main markers for beginners+ are Spyders and Tippmanns. Tippmanns are more for a woodsball type game because they are super reliable and they are almost impossible to break. Spyders, my favorite, are flashier and have more upgrades. Spyders can be played in woodsball and are played with often. Although, Spyders are mainly made for speedball type settings, because they are flashier, but I play woodsball with mine all the time.
Where to buy your marker?
If you have already decided what marker to get you need to know where to buy. In my opinion, Wally World isn’t the best place to buy your marker. They carry an okay range on paintball, but it isn’t that great. The only good markers at Wally World are the Spyder Imagine and the Tippmann 98 Custom, if you plan on upgrading them. In my opinion, I wouldn’t get a Spyder clone (Spyder clones are guns made by smaller paintball companies that make exact replicas of Spyders and sell them at the same price, one example is the rebel). The Spyder clones at Wally World generally aren’t that good of markers and will not last. It is generally best to buy your markers online because they are cheaper. Some sites that I have ordered from:
www.paintballgateway.com
www.countypaintball.com
www.pbfanatics.com
www.pbgear.com
Always make sure that the item that you are going to order is in stock or else it might come in 8 months later.
Cullum’s Paintball Pro-shop
Cullum’s Car Quest is an alright paintball proshop. They carry decent recball paint, Spyder clone markers, Tippmann markers, CO2 tanks, paintball armor (which you really don’t need and says “newb” all over it), and they fill CO2. Their prices on CO2 are very high, but it is the only place to get CO2 in the town of Paris. Next time you go to Cullum’s please ask them to lower their prices on CO2, because one 20oz fill cost $8.50 when basically all other proshops will fill your CO2 a whole lot cheaper, for example, a 20oz will cost you about $4-$5 instead of $8.50.
Paintball in Paris
Playing paintball is quite boring, compared to other places. Paintballers in Paris usually play woodsball. There’s a wide range of players in Paris. The players range in Paris from the newer players with the Brass Eagle and View Loader Markers to the novice players (very few in Paris) who like to play regularly and have upgraded Spyders or Tippmanns, but very few Autocockers, Angles, Shockers, BKOs, ect. The novice players are usually people who respect the sport of paintball and don’t vandalize property with paintballs, because they know that that will put a bad name on paintball and will make the government make even stricter rules.
What types of paintball are there?
There are two types of paintball: speedball, and woodsball. Speedball is a faster paced game than woodsball, and in my opinion, a whole lot more fun. Speedball is made up of bunkers laid out in a 50x by 100x field. You mostly play capture the flag in speedball. In woodsball you can play basically any thing you want because most of the newer players play woods ball on there own land. Woodsball fields range from different sizes.
Paintball Safety
In order to play paintball you need a paintball mask. They range in different types. Paintball masks are used to protect your eyes mostly, yet they also protect your nose, eyes, mouth, and sometimes the chin… unless you’re Jay Leno. There’s also paintball chest armor, which really has no point to it at all, unless you have some type of a health condition, like a heart disease. It is also best if you wear a cup if you are male and are new to the sport. You should wear it when you are new to the sport because you don’t know how to run without getting hit in the reproductive area and trust me it hurts, and you will be down for quite a while.
