View Full Version : Autotrigger = Stock class?

I read the rules for stock class a while ago, and I don't remember properly. I was under the impression stock class involves NO autotrigger. Auto trigger means it shoots every time you pump while holding the trigger down for a higher rate of fire. Anyway, some people have commented on their stock class phantoms coming equipped with an auto trigger. Is an auto-trigger stock class, or do these people not have stock class phantoms?

Here are some minor but important stock class rules:
You have to have a Horizontal feed. This feed must hold at most 15 balls....meaning you have to "rock n cock" every time you shoot
You must use 12 grams as your source of gas
The gun must be a pump
auto triggers are allowed (making Phantoms one of the most popular Legal Stock class guns).
There is more complicated stuff but those are the basics

an older version of absolutely picky stock class rules, said, no, autotriggers aren't allowed. neither are ported barrels...
the no autotrigger rule would negate ANY nelson based pump from being 'true' stock class, but whatever.
Generally accepted stock rules would be any pumpgun w/horizontal 20-ball max. feed (or grav-drop w/10), powered by a SINGLE 12gram. grav-drop pumps generally need to be chrono'd in lower, like 280 vs 300 for 'true' stock class

I have a question then. I have never played stock class (still saving my money), but from what I hear you have to rock and cock every shot. How could you possibly use an auto trigger with that loading method? I may be wrong but wouldn't it be fairly difficult and cause you to chop a few balls here and there?
Sorry about this post, I was just thinking.

generally, you can't, since there's only space for one ball over the breech anyway. If you keep the gun level, you can sorta autotrigger that second shot, but you can't put out strings of paint like a regularly-fed nelson pump. besides, who would want to ever do that anyway? ^_^ pump is too much fun to throw lots of paint

rules for "stock class" vary from place to place... like i wrote in another post, there are nelson paintguns that don't have autotrigger capability, i own one of them. and, like zen said, the horizontal adapter on stock class phantoms has a small drop that will hold one extra ball over the breech, so you can use the autotrigger to fire two balls in fast succession. because of the small drop, this even works when shooting at an upwards angle, within reason.
