Tippmann 98 Sniper
What is the cheapest price for this gun and is it cheaper to buy parts separately and start out stock?
- Thanks

probably not any cheaper to buy parts. Stocks are about 70bucks new, flatline is 115 new. thats already 185 plus the marker itself is about 135 so that puts you around 330 or so. I have seen sniper setups go for 289 around here, and thats brand new.
Personally, unless you are doing simulation games, get a regular 98C 135, and a new barrel CP1pc 45, and a ehopper 50, and a double trigger 20, full boar shadow 50.
thats about 305, or less if you go to the trading forum and find what you want, and a way better setup than the sniper setup. That big bulky stock is going to be getting in your way unless you are just laying on the ground in the back instead of making progress w/ your team. and flatlines are just plain expensive. I would rather have a stiffi for that price.

well dude, he just asked you a simple n question man. How much does it cost, he doesnt need you to preach to him about if it is good or not. it is all a matter of oppinion, Hell i love mine. its accurate as all balls. but my friend hates it. so let him decide if its good or not
but to the dude that made the post, i would recomend shooting one and using one before you buy it. it is huge, but i like mine anyway. just take off the stock when you play speed ball, and you will be all good.

But the point of these forums is to help people. There's no telling how many people I've seen start off trying to be a sniper and waste money on things then trash them a few months later when they learn better. Chicken stick's just trying to help him get off to a better start.
Now for my advice, start with a basic 98c and upgrade the barrel and maybe get a/s or an agitated hopper, and decide what else you need for your style of play AFTER playing, not before. It's easily the most efficient and effective way to get into this sport.

who the F are you? that was freakin rude as helll. for a recap, he asked if it would cost more to get the sniper setup or get it stock and buy the stuff for the sniper setup. I was just giving him good advice. I never said if it was gonna be good or not. I could care less what he likes or wants, but I know that a sniper setup is not the way to go for someone serious about paintball. If you are not serious and want to get it because it looks like an M16 or whatever, thats cool too, but it wont get you far in paintball.
BTW, you just flamed me saying that he asked how much it cost, and you didnt post anything about the price. You need to reread if you have to, or drink a warm glass of shut the helll up.

Take it easy, guys. :)
About the 98 Sniper, I suggest getting it piece by piece. It is not about how much you save, it is you can get a better feeling that "Is the 98 Sniper really what you want".
Tell you that ture, when I started, I wanted one, looks cool, shoots far. But after I upgraded my stock 98 to a 98 sniper, I found that it isn't for me.

Happy Gilmore reference :) ?
Either way you look at it, the Sniper, IMHO, is pretty much pointless. If you play in deep brush, your remote is bound to get snagged sooner or later. Flatline, been discussed before, it travels far, but the balls rarely break at that distance. Stock, bulky and pointless. Get your 98, try a few different set-ups, and see what's best for you. If you must have a flatline, buy one used and see how you like it. Hope this helps :) .

and if you really want a flatline, i've heard the A-5's is a lot less finicky

Take a look around.
You'll need the Flatline, a CAR stock, and a remote. Have fun. :)
