View Full Version : Sling Mod for the Tippmann A-5

I got this idea from "Wilderboy" of the www.a5ownersgroup.com but I did this myself.

I've put a sling on my A-5 before and I personally do not like the around the barrel sling not to mention putting all the pressure on the back ring like most vertical slings do. A genuine firearms company named "Uncle Mike's" makes a swivel screw and swivel sling clip which I provided pictures for below.

The screws replace the stock screw at the sight and back site whereas you can attach the swivel clip.

All you need to do this mod is the following:
-"Uncle Mike's" Quick Detachable Swivel Base (http://www.uncle-mikes.com/adtemplate.asp?invky=9005974&catky=&subcatky1=&subcatky2=) (2) $3 each (any gun and ammo store)
-"Uncle Mike's" Quick Detachable Super Swivels 1" (http://www.uncle-mikes.com/adtemplate.asp?invky=7042263) (2) ($7.50 for pack of two at Wal-Mart)

I thought I was done with it but I always manage to find something. This one, however, only cost me $15.

Do you have to do any drilling to your a5?

Nope, no drilling required.

All I basically did was replace the stock screw on the front and rear site with the swivel screw. Then attached the clip.

As far as I know this will work for the Model 98 as well

Sweat! So it's the same size screw. What harness do you suggest to put on this little gismo?

No clue, if you remember my original thread regarding a sling received few recommendations beyond the ones in the reviews (which I mentioned I already viewed but were still told to check the reviews) until MJM gave me a link to www.a5ownersgroup.com and I saw this mod just a little different.

I'll re-activate the other one because I still am unsure of which to use.

The way to do it with the model 98 is replace the rear site screw with the swivel, then the foregrip screw with the swivel.

So it works for both, anyone tried this yet?
