Upgrading my 98 Custom...Please Read!

i've been into paintball for about 2 1/2 years now and its about time i upgrade my 98 custom or get a new gun. i play every weekend and i might soon even be on a team. i need to know if i should just upgade the hell out of my 98 custom or buy a whole new gun all together. the thing is i really don't want to spend over $250? on my new gun. i would actually prefer upgrading my 98 custom a lot. so, if you could help out...what are some REALLY good upgrades i could give my tippman........or should i just change my gun all together???

Do NOT get the r/t, it's not tourney legal. If you have co2, get an anti-siphon tube installed at your local proshop. Get a barrel like a .693 cp (custom products) 1-piece barrel, or a lapco bigshot (the bigshot is better from what I've heard). Then get a double trigger. Then an empire reloader. Then buy a vertical adapter, and a palmer's stabilizer (a type of reg).

a/s=$10
lapco bishot=$50
2x trig=$20
Empire Reloader=$50
VA=$20
stabilizer=$90

Total=$240

oh and one more thing ace if you could help me out......................should i upgrade any internal parts...such as a new bolt?

Don't change the internals, IMHO. There are just fine.

The internals work great, the only real reason to upgrade them is when u drop in an ebolt.

basically what ace said is all thats worthwhile on upgrading a tippy, anything more then that and its not really worth it unless your buying and ebolt.

Keep in mind the for under $300 you can get some nicely upgraded cockers, mags, maybe some bushies and impys on the B/S/T forums either here or on pbnation or better yet ebay.

Yep, the stock internals are good. I've even heard some horror stories from people that bought the hyperstar bolt. I peronally didn't buy a cocker or anything because I only play 1-2 times a month. If I would ever want to upgrade to an impy, I'd just buy a halo and a ballistic sports e-bolt kit to make it shoot just like an impy.

then ace6160 gave you some good recommendations if you dont have a ehopper, etc.

Or you can spend it on gear like Redz comfort belt and pack, knee/shin gaurds, slide shorts, elbow pads, jerseys, pants, gloves, pro level mask (for bounces), if you dont already have good stuff.

thats if youre serious about tourneys.

Often overlooked by people, but some of the best money i've spent on paintball was on some Redz gear (how did i ever play without kneepads) & sliding shorts.

Even if you decide later to buy a new marker, that stuff (and the Stabilizer) will carry forward.

yea........thats a good idea.....im gunna thing about buying some knee pads.....cuz here in michigan it gets pretty wet and it SUCKS when ur knees are freezing off :|

hey another thing........wats a good gun for about $250 MAX? i can't really afford.......or want to buy..........anyting over that amount of money because i would like to add a few upgrades.......and im lookin for a higher end guns....like hyper-sniper said.......mags, bushies, etc.

oh and another thing lol whats a good mask.........HAS TO BE FOGPROOF.....cuz the 1 i have right now just plainly SUCKS!!!

Check e-bay, used mags are goin for around $180.

IMO the best mask on the market is the v-force profiler/morph, in a close second is the jt proflex.

anything made by redz is top quality and worth the price IMO.

Proflex w/ thermals are good, and you can get lots of diff. colors of masks and lenses. They are soft and you will sometime get bounces of the mask since it is flexible. Its also very lightweight. I kinda wish I had one instead of a spectra nforcer. Oh well, I know what my next mask will be.
