hey guys, I'll soon be recieving my A-5. However, I have some cash I was going to use to upgrade the A-5 and not sure what to buy.
First off I wanted to know what would better suit my playing style, an rt or e-grip? I am more of a scenario/woods player and the occational speedball type of guy. Oh and has anyone heard or have tried out that firestorm crank? I think it is pretty cool but wanted a few opinions.
Secondly, is a flatline really worth the extra $100 if I already have an armson stealth 12" barrel? Does the range advantage really help if I were in a huge woods ball game?
Please help me out guys, I'm pretty new to the whole tippmann thing. (never owned a tippy before, only cocker and a TES)

The R/T E-Grip debate is complex but could be answered simply too (if that makes sense).
R/T if you don't play tournys (Tourny Illegal)
E-Grip if you do play tounrys (Tourny Legal in Semi Only)
As for the Flatline there are already alot of threads on it already. And I mean ALOT of threads already. I have one and it's fine for Woodsball, woudln't recommend it for speedball at all. Barrel is too short and it's not as accurate as a paint to bore match would be.
The range is awesome. You get 100Ft+ of flat trajectory. The main problem with this is the balls go slower at further distances, as all paint does at distances no matter what type of barrel you use, but there is a solution but it's not cheap. You have to buy high quality paint. I spend $60 on a case of Zap Chronics and they break almost everytime but I still get bounces.
With the flatline if you want it to do all it can do then you'll have to buy really good paint, if you can't afford the good paint then it's not worth it IN MY OPINION. You can search more threads on this and check the stickies.
Good Luck.

Rt, but its not tornement legal, I have the RT and it works like a dream. You can do full auto and bursts once you find the sweet spot on the trigger. This is very fast and there are no electronics to get wet and fried, although ive never shot the e grip, i have heard it cool, but I would aim for the rt, Its cheaper and just as effective

maybe you shouldtry them both out to see what you like b/c it's really personal preference...

E-grip and stealth. Or e-grip and flatline for rec.

hmm.... well I have no idea what the feel is for each because its basically impossible for me to find someone to let me try it out. People around here are so mean and selfish....

E-Grip and Big Shot.
E-grip is legal in every context of the game, no matter what field, outlaw or regulated the E-grip will fly. With RT, unless you are playing outlaw ALL THE TIME there is no real garantee that it will be legal. RT is cool until you can't use it anymore b/c the field doesn't allow it.
For Barrel I would say neither, the Lapco Big Shot is the answer to this conundrum. It's not as picky as either the Stealth or Flatline, and is helaciously accurate.

id say, keep the stealth buy a RT, then id say buy the flatline......test them both.....inter change them in different games...... keeps it hard to know whats going on fro the other team, are they going to rush us? or are they going to move slow, because they have longer range.....
also is zap primer, zap chronic, and RPS evil paint good enough for the flatline. i play with occasional practice paint if my field or dicks have them and im low on cash, but my friends flatline on his 98 works fine with it.

is it worth buying a double trigger to go with the rt? I have heard it makes sweet spotting easier and faster, is that true?

my double trigger is on order, so i wouldnt know yet, but it will maek you shoot FASTER i believe, because you can walk it if im not mistaking, its that sensitive.....probably not near as sensitive as electros though

oh, and bc no one else has touched on this, i will. the firestorm crank is a joke. i'm sure it would be fun to play with, but trust me, stick with a trigger ;)

Unless you are using an electro trigger, you aren't gong to be able to walk.
Walking a mechanical trigger = not possible. :)

No. You can't. Mechanical triggers require too much pull to be able to walk them. You can fan, but you can't walk it.
Trying to walk a mechanical trigger is pretty much a waste of time.

Aren't we getting a little off topic?
You're supposed to set the example Mr. Moderator sir :)

Walking a mech Spyder frame! LOL! The pull on those is about a week long.
I will say that after it's been jobbed enough you can almost kinda walk a Tippmann double trigger. I've walked mine before, it's hard to do with any speed or duration, and therefore extremely impractical

The Fire Storm Crank is bad ***** im going to order one for my E-Blade i should be able to get off 10-11 bps no prob. It is a must have upgrade.
All you have to do is type in firestorm crank into search and you would see that it sucks and is not worth the money.

That's what I meant. Sure you can walk it, but it's going to be a lot slower than just normal pulling.

We're technically still KIND OF on topic.
Plus, the topic is up to my discretion anyway. ;)

what is the rt capped at? (in terms of bps) and what is the e-grip capped at? is it possible to increase the bps rate? and is turbo allowed on fields at all?

It's capped at whatever the recharge rate of the tank would be. If there's enough air getting to the RT, it can just keep going up.

what do you mean the recharge rate? I'm running a 20oz c02 so like what is its recharge rate?
Coenen

The recharge rate is how quickly the tank can give the marker enough air to cycle again. If the ROF exceeds the recharge rate you get shoot down.
Since CO2 is unstable its recharge rate varies, the warmer the weather and better the system is at keeping liquid out of the marker the faster you'll be able to cycle. Otherwise there is no definite number. RT on CO2 in good weather should be able to handle 15+BPS IN SHORT BURSTS.
