ok heres the deal....just got a new impy....first the bolt was sticking forward everytime I fired it:eek:....my firend took apart the reg and fiipped this little thing around (I think it was the spring guide pin but I could be wrong, I know that doenst help) this actually made the gun work, meaning it would fire and not stick in the forward position...but now the fps is all over the place the dwell is set almost horozontal in the clockwise direction and the pressure is at about 180 psi but the fps at first varied +or- 50 and after about 5 or 6 hundred shots it stabelized around + or - 15 fps with the occational ball that just falls out the barrel when fired....this is btw useing a center flag hyperflow 420, 4500psi 68ci tank so the fps should be like +or- 5 right??? if anybody has had this problem please let me know what I can do...I already e-mailed VOM and I'm probably gonna just send the reg back to smart parts but if theres anything I can do please help:confused:

Is your Imp still ill? Did you say ya got it from FOM? I know he test fires all his markers before they leave his shop! You said a friend took it apart, are you sure he knew what he was doing? Do you have a chrono? Give us just alittle more information, after you've read the Imp FAQ sheet and reviewed your own owners manual, and have double checked your friends work!

ok...turns out the guide pin was in right the first time...its back now....fom says it was probably a dwell problem...I had kept his dwell setting at first (before I had done anything to the pressure) but fom said the pressure should have been at 180, when I got it, it was at 125 (we must be at different altitudes) so b4 I send the gun back to Smart parts I'm gonna turn the dwell back to where fom had it (about 1:00) and try it at 180psi and hope that everything will work out now that I fixed the guide pin....hopefully it was the guide pin that was causeing all the problems because we only got the gun to work after my friend flipped the pin around which should account for most of the strangeness that happened once it did start to work...oh, btw does anybody know if haveing the guide pin in upside down would cause inconsistant FPS? if so then I think my gun is ok....
something else you may want to check...
If your N2 tank has an adjustable reg -- make sure it is set up around 300-400 psi (higher is OK) If your pressure into the Maxflo is too low, it will vary all over the place because the reg needs the pressure diff to preform
Of course if you have a pre set-- that will be up around 750-800 psi and that will not be a problem.

Here is where the chrono will help you. Dwell settings based on where it appears on the face of a clock ( 1 o'clock, 12 etc..) don't mean squat! They vary marker to marker, and modifacation to modifacation, You need to have your input psi set at 180 and while shooting over a chrono adjust your dwell to 280 f.p.s.
Remember dwell pot settings are alot like women, No two are identically the same!
(Would that make a chrono is like a shopping mall? Cause it brings all the dwell settings in line?)

Thats good to know....I havent really modifyed the gun so I think it should be ok to put it back to where it was in the first place....but in the end (once I actually get to a chrono) the dwell will be set to where the fps is at 185-190 (my field lets us turn it up an extra 10fps, good for the woods bad for getting bunkered point blank,,heh)....thanx fer all yer help (everyone) I think the gun is working...sure I feel like an idiot but at least I know how the thing works (Guess the only way to learn is to SCREW UP)
