I am thinking of getting an impulse and i was wondering if they are reliable markers and do they break down often??And are they really hard to maintain??

First of all, read the Impulse FAQ in this forum. You can also read Wolverine's FAQ, etc.

Is the Impulse reliable? Sure. Wolverine has had his for a while, and only had 2 problems with it, which were his fault, not the 'guns.

But back when I had my Spyder, that 'gun was reliable as well, it chopped paint a couple times, but nothing else, really.

The question "Is the Impulse reliable" is too broad...you can say any 'gun is reliable if it is well maintained, etc.

You can learn about maintenance of the 'gun in the FAQ as well. But it's mainly just wiping it off at the end of the day and lubing it with Dow 33 grease.

Check out this quote from one of the users:

And the trajectory is a bit better than a bushmasters, but not as flat as a novas"

Bah not accurate as timmy?!?!?! Where did you get that from! On my fields it seems like the only gun there is timmy. I haven't seen as much broke down timmies! Plus my bud got the Imp and they compared the accuracy, $550 Imp was just as accurate as $900 timmy from about 40-50 feet away. I haven't read this, but actually tested it.

To answer the question about reliability, Imp is the simplest gun out of all the eletros. Simple = Less things to go wrong and easier to fix, just common sense answers your question.

Hehe, in case you didn't get that...it was a joke.

That person was tired of people asking if the Impulse is accurate, is it any good, etc...

Get it? :P

I would have to disagree on the topic that impy is the most simple marker to maintain. Matrix by far is.
(i own both)
but just basic design... matrix has 1 moving part... the bolt.
no spring, sear, etc etc.

there is the bolt, spool valve, selenoid, trigger, and reg. thats it.
how does it work? I have no idea. I think someone sold their soul to satan to have a design that shouldnt work... but does, very well, I might add.

both guns are reliable. the first batch of both had a few faulty markers (I have a first batch matrix) I havnt had any problems with mine, though.

impys are cool... fun... damn good for the price... competes with everything out there. (most of the time pervails).(sp?)
ohh well...

simply put... Impys are the best marker for the money and performance on the market. I am starting a team... I want everyone on the team to use one (only because they cant afford matrices though) I like my matrix.
I'll shut up now.

OK Lets name the parts of an Impulse.

Bolt, Hammer, valve, Reg, solenoid.

You don't know for sure how a Matirx works. I kinda have an idea, but would rather work on an Impulse. It doesn't take much to fiqure out what is wrong with an Impulse (If something does go wrong).

The Impulse is extremely easy to maintain. Get a Delrin bolt and they are even easier. The only problems I have had with any of my Impulse is the solenoid leaking pas the gasket. I had switched the board out before, but now I found out it was my mistake and did not have to.:|

Hey is the difference between Delrin bolt and regular bolt the greasing? Do you still have to grease up the Delrin bolt?

That is one of the bigget differences. It is also lighter. You will not have to put any grease on the delrin bolt because there are no orings.
