wat do u guys think of getting a BSA 30mm red dot sight on the A-5? I was thinking of getting this because i play mostly recball and woodsball and though this could be a good accuracy and sighting upgrade. Is there any way you could get it setup like more to the side of the gun incase u wanted to use ur iron sights for closer gunfights? I just think getting a sight would help me concentrate more on aiming than just sweetspotting my r/t and praying for a player to get hit.

purchase an offset rail. honestly a reddot wont help much....check the rec ball forum and you might find what you need

An A-5 with a RT and a Red Dot Sight kind of contradict each other. You know what I mean?

I'll explain: A-5's with RT are made for up close and personal type fighting. You've got the high BPS feed and the the -almost- fully automatic upgrade. On top of that the A5 is kind of bulky and compact, at least for me it was, so I guess aiming with it would be a little awkward. I used an A-5 once for one round and all I basically did with it was point and shoot, I really didn't aim much. I wouldn't suggest it for an A-5, you did pick a good sight though.

This is a good sight at a good deal. You can get the JCS offset rail if you don't want to mount it directly onto the A-5. The red dot might need a little adjusting to get it to the red dot to be where your paintball hits. The main reason that I got it was for the intimidating look :D

in general, sights on PB guns are useless...

if have the chance to try one, do... but don't buy one unless you know it will help.

Well forget this if you're really set on getting one...
I had one for probly the first 5 months of playing and I began to notice that I didn't use it in the field! So I took it off to save weight. Now I can shoot dead on(with a 14" barrel the 12" is a lil harder) every time. I think that it's kind of pointless because it adds weight and with mine I kept forgetting to turn it off so it was eating batteries.
Also I dont think BSA has a paintball warrenty(sp?) and they're $$$ to so if it breaks from a hit or something you're out your $$$. My dad has a rifle scope on his(he can't see well) and he's got shot in that about 3 different times! They shot the scope right in the lens! Like on that sniper movie...
So if I were you I'd spend the money on something else.
OR you could try those little glow stick kind the kind that the plastic things collect the light and shine it out the ends...fiber optic maybe? They'd be cheaper, lighter, and way more durable. When I got my gun I was thinking about getting the BSA scope to and I'm glad I didn't.

Red dot sights and such work well with flatline barrels and poorly with everything else.

I agree because the shot from the flatline stays constant and straight, while a normal paintball shot drops after a bit.

honestly if you really need to use it get it ...but like stated earlier with an rt its not gonna get used much....make sure you turn it off too cause they eat the batteries if you forget to turn it off

That's a very good idea. Does anyone know where I could get one of those?

I have seen them at cabela's...they are mainly used on daisy pellet guns right now so if you have access to a pellet gun just pop it off...

The only doubt that i have in my mind is that paintball guns are not extremly accurate, but for closer range i guess it would be ok.

i have a 42mm on my 98c. Its best used in lower light (dense bush or forest).
It helps with the longer range stuff, but it REALLY comes into its own when you are moving quickly through villages sweeping it out. its great for CQB. keep both your eyes open and wherever you see the dot, thats where its going.

i have that exact same site for my 98c it rocks. Most ppl don aim but they should it helps. Once u get ur site calibrated it is great. I always aim wit hthe dot unless snapshooting when im pinned down. Some ppl just gotta learn to aim in woodsball. in speed u might not have too much use for the dot u just spray........

I've always kept Red dot sites and site rails on the same playing field, or level, so to speak. Go with what you like. Its better than screwing some 90x Sniper rifle scope on your Tippmann, whichever way you go.

You might catch flak from some anal retentive paintballers who think its a scope and are ready to jump you for you it, but go for what you like, not them.
