Yes, 300 fps is the point in which a finger can be broken when shot. Bleeding welts. All of that good stuff.

It depends how far over 300fps. But, the simple answer is YES
I read that JT supposedly rates their gogles up to 450, but do you really want to risk it? Keep in mind, BB guns only shoot at like 400 - 500 fps. An M1 Garand is around 2800fps.

Yep, 290 is the limit here. But I usually shoot around 270 to play it safe.

Well I chrono at 292, so my gun doesn't ever go over 295 (even if it did, I wouldn't get the beep from the chronos). But I've been shot by my gun and it hurts like a *****. Even if over 300 fps was allowed, I probably still wouldn't do it. Hoppers break, cheap guns crack, lenses get cracked (may not break, but hey you have to buy a new lens), and being hit hurts. After 300, how much being shot on bare skin increases exponentially. (Meaning 310 to 315 is a bigger increase pain wise than 290 to 295).

So kids, don't do it.

Also, if you set it too high, your paint starts veering badly, and you can't hit anyone with it. (not as bad on better markers that put less side to side spin on the ball)

It's dangerous but I dont mind plying with it. Except when you get shot in the arm 10 times from very close and you start to bleed.....You can probably tell I've been there:D

Depends on indoor/outdoor. Outdoor i wouldnt mind playing 300 but over 310 is bad. I got lit up bye my bro when we were newbs playin backyard ball w/ out a chrono, he wuz shooting pretty hot and i was bleeding and in quite a bit of pain.

well think about it this way...

if you play with your friends in some back yard, outlaw style paintball action, shooting well over 300fps! what happens when you decide to play in a tournament, whose rules state the velocity limit to be no higher then 270? you are so used to the long range that when it comes to playing in the tourney your not used to the range, and so your team doesn't do to well.
