if you are going to play a game of paintball, do you say "im going to play paintball" or "im going paintballing"?
which is correct?
i mean, you dont say "im going baseballing", you say "im going to play baseball". i hear so many people say "im going paintballing" and i dont think it is correct.......so tell me what you say and tell me which is the correct way to say it.

But you do say I'm going hunting, I'm going shuffleboarding, I'm going running. Nobody said the English language had to make sense.

well the answer is in what exactly is paintball a wevb or a noun i guess
because you dont PLAY snowboarding, hence you go snowboardING
but u dont DO football, so you go to PLAY football
hence its the same with paintball
i am not sure which is it but only one is right i believe
Im going to play paintball is like the football part
and i am going paintballing is like the snowboarding...
can some english major figure this out? lol

I say both. Like, if I'm talking to somebody, I say "So, do you play paintball?" And when I'm talking to my friends, I say "So, are we goin' paintballing this weekend?"

officially "to paintball' is NOT a verb so paintballing is incorrect, however personally I use it as one and think they should make it a real verb
while u dont say i'm going baseballing you could say I'm going golfing etc

I'd just like to comment this statement.
The verb "To Paintball" is kind of like the F-word, it can be used as nouns, adverbs, adjectives, interjections, verbs, and so many other parts of speach.

You can say "Im going to play paintball" or "Im going paintballing" the same as you can say "I'm going fishing" or "I'm go to go fish."
Just remember that saying any of that to your girlfriend or spouse will likely get the same sort of response, so perhaps its just better to say "I'm going out." :D
