wat u guys think about me puttin spray paint on my m98. as most of u know...the external paint on the m98 is different from a spyders. spyders are anodized..while m98's look like its some kinda powder finish. im thinkin of doin a spray paint design on it. a silver to metallic blue fade. i know how to do it...im just wondering if i can do it...i mean i dont think the spray paint is going to "dissolve" the metal or anything. i think it'll look pretty good.....also it doesnt matter if it looks like crap...cuz in about a year its gonna be my backup gun...and if i screw up..i can just spray paint it black again.

your better off using an air brush, spray paint wont have a good finish to it. but hey like ur saying it might not matter, i still wouldnt use spray paint.

It all depends on how good you are at spray painting. I painted my trigger frame to get rid of the takky white lettering and trust me that paint it not coming off. But there are a few facters...
1. I have been painting things off and on for the past 10 yrs or so. In other words I have lots of practice.
2. You should only buy Krylon if you are going to use spray paint, it is by far the best.
3. You have to prep what you are painting very well. I.E. Sand it with a medium grit like 150ish then sand again to get a smooth surface with like a 220 grit. Wipe it down real well and make sure the painting surface is completely clean of dust or particals. Also don't forget to mask/tape everything that you don't want painted and make sure that no paint will get inside the gun or vital parts!!!
4. Ideally apply a Primer coat next and repeat step 3, you especially need to if metal is showing after sanding.
5. Another key to a good paint job is to select your color in a gloss, this helps with the rubbing off part and like I said stick with Krylon for your paint, even for your Primer.
6. If you are really worried about the paint rubbing off you can use a Clear Coat next on top of the Colored paint.
Of course follow the proper drying and painting instructions on the can or all of this is a wash. I do not work for Krylon I have just used lots of paints and the stuff I painted with Krylon is still painted so it is worth it. Spray Paint works really well it is just that people don't do it properly. The question now is after reading all of this. Do you really want to paint your gun so bad that it is worth it to take all of these steps?

sure why not. its not so hard....basically all ur doin is...sandin it, cleanin it, and sprayin it, and then dry..and sprayin it again. i have access to all these things too.

Seriously if it is done right it can look good but if it is don't wrong it is not going to look that great and it is definatly a few days worth of work because you have to let the primer cure for 24 hours before painting on it and you have to let the paint cure for 24 hours before touching it. It is a task but take your time and you should be ok. Remember follow all instructions on the can in addition to my steps. Like for example if the can says paint 6-10" inches away from the object then do it. Good Luck and I hope it turns out well.
