Ok.....ok....I'm new to the sport. I'm 24 y.o. I played a couple times as a kid and last year bought a TL+ b/c I'm starting to get into it. This year I bought a Gameface E-rex pro b/c my friends and I play kinda speedball style but in the woods so I'm allowed to have the full auto. I'm going to be saving up for a new marker.......prolly around the 5-600 price range. Or a marker and upgrades in that range. Reason I need advice is that I want to play speedball more and try to tourney. I need a marker thats reliable.....fast....and tourney legal. Any and all advice good or bad is welcome. Thanks in advance.

I might suggest the Rat JR Impulse from www.e-paintballoutlet.com but they're $525. If you're interested in it, ask Calebd2 some about it, he's got one.

In that price range I would go with a Vision Impulse. Awesome marker that wont leave you feeling outgunned against any of the more expensive markers.

Check out those two.

Mike has a point, I never even thought of the regular Smart Parts Impulses, especially the ones with the Vision board.

Check out ebay and see what you can grab thats already pre-built by somebody else; its a great way to save some cash ;)

Check out used Emags, Bushy's (you can get a pretty pimped '04 B2K with PDS in the price range you are looking), maybe even an older angel or a matrix if you find a good deal.

Make sure you factor in the air system (HPA is a real good idea) and a hopper than can supply your marker with paint (a halo or Eggy II are a good idea for some of the faster shooting guns).

Also I would go to your local field and check out the other markers. Most poeple are pretty cool and would let you shoot a string or two to test it out. Just because it's in your price range doesn't mean you'll like it. $600 is a lot of money to drop on something you not quite sure if you will like or not. An Imp is a good choice. There are a couple on my team and they love them.
And just because I'm biased to them... you could get a nicely set Timmy Classic for about that, or a stock one and upgrade and still be in your limits. I use one myself and will swear by them.
Also check out the trading forums. Like Vayp said you might be able to find a very nice marker for a deal.

Used emags, IR3s, E-cockers, non stock impulses, mechanical mags, etc...

Go for what feels good to you.

Anyone hear of hybrid quest I was told to look into those. As they are like half price right now. Also if you've used one are they like a cocker cause they sure look like. I'ma ckeck around the trading forums and E-bay too see what I can find. Also head down to my pro-shop....if you can call it that and see what I can try out.
