I hear alot about the Phantom and it seems to be one of the all time favorite pump guns. Id love to see/hear about the configs ya'll got out there and if you have any personal preferences and whatever.
Im saving for a Phantom setup of my own: whats shown in the bottom half of the picture, a 9oz tank, a 200rnd gravity hopper, my proteus mask, and i sill havnt figured if i should get a 14in stock barrel or a custom paint job yet.
Looking forward to joining the ranks of the pump/stock players of the world. :D

wellcome, im leaving the great phantom world soon and im selling my gun, im not leaving pumps though, just converting over to a more comforatble(my opinion) sniper 2. i will get the pics now.. my advise, get CF. with a gun as light as the phantom, it helps to balance the markerout and decrease wrist fatigue.

Well I love Phantoms and playing pump. This one here is your basic stock class gun, the Phantom VSC with woodland cammo. I have a stock but it's not on there right now.

basically, it's a VSC, but take a lookie, cuz I don't want to retype what's she's got ^_^
among other things i've got on my wish list, I plan on getting a custom phantom built by mike casady...

Knight: Yah I bought it used for about $200. why do you ask?

no, i just wanted to know who you bought that from? A friend of mine was selling his phantom exactly like the one in the pic, but he has a DYE stainless barrel, and a telescopic T-stock. He said he was selling it, and i was just wondering if you picked it up.

shucks i dont' have a good quality pic of it...
but me gots a Stock class, black SC w/45 trigger frame, and a DYE stainless barrel
HawaiianPenguin

The Dye Stainless? I read about that on PHOG(phantom owners group) They said it was hella heavy. How much more accurate is it than the 11" stock? cuz I was thinking about getting the Stainless or the 11" Nickle Plated from CCI...wasn't sure.
Silent Knight

well the whole barrel is stainless steel. so the ******* is much heavier then any other barrel I have used. It's a heavy barrel no doubt about that but, i don't complain like the other girls do. this entire set up is so much lighter then my autococker so, it doesn't matter to me.
as for accuracy, i can't help you there buddy, i bought this gun with the dye stainless, and i never bothered to put the stock barrel back on to see how good it is. I have nothing to compare the dye barrel too, and im too lazy to put the stock one back on.

From what I hear, the phantom stock barrel is supposed to be about as good as it gets in terms of accuracy. My phantom has a .45 block with dye stickies, 11" nickel plated CCI barrel, vertical air kit with hardline, vertical WGP reg connected to bottomline, and either RF or stock class bodies. I really like how you can switch the breeches. I think an 11" barrel is plenty, but you could get a 14" if you wanted. I use a 100 round hopper, so the balance isn't as much of an issue. I have never had a problem with it though, so I don't know that CF is necessary. Buying a used phantom is probably a good idea to save you some money so you can get upgrades.

yep, wish i was smart enougth to buy used, now im selling the gun for a sniper. if i had bought a cheap used one, it would have cost alot less.

phantom stock barrels are SWEEET!!! no need to change, unless having the extra front weight of a stainless dye is your thing... some like it, some don't. A friend of mine hated phantoms because they were 'too light,' and he couldn't shoot them to save his life. He ended up w/a carter buzzard, and ruled w/that gun.

phantoms don't really need to *get* much quieter... and I'd hate to use an AA while playing stock, I don't want to think how it might hurt your gas efficiency...
I swear, I need a new phantom ^_^ anyone got about 300 they can loan me? hehe
snipinhick
11-06-2001, 05:02 PM
hey, i don't have the 300, but for 230 i can sell you a regular stock class with a auto spirit barrel!!! dead serious here.
iff i can sell off all my stuff, im buying a bottomlined 45 framed, center feed, minni phantom brand new, for like 258, not shipped.

I dunno... the stock barrels are already pretty damn quiet, but yes, I'd imagine that it would be even moreso w/an AA on it
hick-I've already got an autospirit-equipped VSC, sorry ^_^
the 'next' phantom is something very, very specific

nope, it's a Lapco autospirit... nice tight bore, just as quiet as stock (w/TPC internals)
also has ultra cool, ultra rare Lapco Ghost internals (bolt, fluted hammer, jet set/cup seal). The thing sounds like a damn cannon, but the pump stroke is so freakin' light, I NEED to keep the pump return spring on, or it'll slide around under it's own weight when cocked... I can pull the pump back w/the tips of my two fingers, then let the return spring chamber the ball, it's sick
been offered $400 for the gun... outrageously overpriced to most folk, yes, but I couldn't take it, I like the thing too much. Might convert the thing to grav-feed w/cali-style air after(IF!) I pick up another VSC phantom

hehe, yes... it is.... if only there were a way I could make it quieter, though, w/o sticking the stock guts back in...

anyone seen anything or heard anything about that pnuematic pump assist for the phantom? I've only seen pictures of it in www.docsmachine.com but havn't heard how it perform. Look really really really cool but probably cost a small fortune

gas milage would be reduced when running 12gram, but other than that, it would perform the same, aside from the heinously short pump stroke...
as cool as they are, I just don't see the point to pneu-assist... w/a pump stroke that short, autotriggering would make it essentially a semi auto...

if i remeber correctly, i think the pump stroke is only 1/4 of an inch. Its like the sniper SHO... worthless in my opinion.
zenmaster
11-16-2001, 05:10 PM
well, if it uses cocker-type 4-ways, the pump stroke could resonably be in the 2mm length...
but yes, worthless, also IMO ^_^
