View Full Version : Could it be the paint?

I was looking over the paintchart today and I got to thinking.
All the paint that shoots really well(or so is claimed. I've never shot all-stars or marbs) is really small bore and thick fill. Now could it be that those are the reasons they fly better? Anyone get what I'm saying? The smaller and heavier the paint the better it flys right? The wind has less affect on it and it would shoot more consistantly. Is this just common knowledge that I've just now come to realize?

i think it's due to the shape of the paintball, that is how "perfect" it is to a sphere and also cuz higher end paint will have less visible seams, leading to less curving balls.

The size and weight differences aren't really enough to noticeably do anything to performance. The reason paint that is considered good is considered good is basically just that it breaks on the player and not in the gun and the fill is nice and bright. Cheap paint tends to have a watery fill.

It's pretty much the quality of the paint.

Watery fill and thick shells are easy to make (bigger bore) and thus cheap. The downside is that they tend to not break on target and when they do the fill is easily wiped off.

A, good thin shell (smaller bore) is harder to make and to keep the balls from being too light are made with thicker fills, not to only keep them from spiraling off target, but to keep players from wiping as well.
