since you are a newbie i highly suggest the following things

m98
drop forward
new 12" barrel
20 oz co2

that is all you need for a long time!!
the m98 is a very durable and easy to use and maintain gun I like them alot and suggest them to everyone over a spyder

for the barrel i suggest a 12" J&J ceramic for $40 at several places on the net

drop forward get a Psycho Ballistics theyare about $25 at www.countypaintball.com

u guys might laugh at me for this now..about the c02 bottle, can u refill it? cuz i have no clue...u just screw them on right..and where can i get one of them...also u suggest a m98 instead of a custom 98? why is that, and one more thing, do the barrels just screw on and off?

http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=1957 theres the "drop forward" it says it just moves your c02 tank..

alright heres what i have chosen:

http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=1778 Tippman Model 98 Custom - RT

http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=1007 J&J Ceramic Barrel for Model 98, 12 inches

http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=2124 Psycho Ballistics Universal Drop Forward, chrome

http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=832 20oz Aluminum w/pin valve

now once again bout the 20oz c02 tanks, they dont come filled i am guessing, where would u get them filled and how much would that cost? and does anyone have a picture of this setup or a similar setup so i can look at it to see how this stuff goes together when i get it..

wait made a mistake on the gun..
http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=1858 i ment that one

anyway, i was looking around what about a autoloader? would there be any reason to have one of them with this semi-auto gun?

battery loaders are good if you shoot alot. i dont so i dont use one.
you dont need a drop forward. unless youre using a large tank there isnt a point. a 20oz would benifit from one. but its optoinal.
the stock barrels are usually pretty bad however.

bigshot-----is loud but extremly accurate barrel. many people think its the most accurate. i agree. its $50

the j&j ceramic---- is quiter and very accurate. its $40

dye bommstick-----quiter than the bigshot. $110 or so

smart parts all american--- quiter. its decent. its ok if you can find one on sale. $80

If you are an exteme newbie just get the stock marker and then a new barrel. That is the general must. As you learn the game and as you learn about different markers and start to play with your own marker you will start to learn what these extra parts do and what is best for you. Honestly these are all good suggestions but you need to learn about what you want. People can advise what they think is good aftermarket stuff but if you really don't know what certain things do or how to maintain them or your style of play, you could end up wiht a setup that is really to everyone elses liking but your own.

I agree with c4pyro, definately just get a stock custom 98 and have fun for a little while. Then decide what upgrades you would like to purchase. Don't let the money burn a whole in your pocket, save it for purchasing good quality paintballs.

And dont forget about your mask.

Thermal lenses are a MUST.
I consider them to be more important then a new barrel.
How can you hit anything if you can't see???

Get a JT nForce or somthing simular.

If you get a packaged deal with your gun that comes with the mask and a CO2 and what not, see if it is possible to pay alittle more to upgrade your mask.

To get the co2 bottle filled you will generally have to go to a paintball store or field. Other places can do it like welding shops but they don't see paintball gear that often so you don't really know how much you can trust them.

The stores or field will have a very large tank of co2 and a fill station. The simply screw your bottle to the fill station and (I won't go into the gritty details of it) and then its good to go. And you will get at least 600 shots off of a 20oz if not more.

cool 600 shots is plenty, more then i expected, i forgot to ask how much it costs to get it filled up?

Depends on the place you go to. Its is realatively cheap though. like my shop charges 2-3 bucks. So its not like your gonna have to scrimp and save to fill your tank. But yeah you should get between 600-800 shots off of that 20oz. It will depend a little on the temperature and stuff like that, but its a reasonable amount.

heh i'm the type of person that will put some type of heating element around the tank and heat it up so i will get more pressure and shots....lol...naw i wouldnt want to mess with any of that....2-3 bucks isnt crap...nice.....for that i'll probably buy like 2 or 3 hell maybe even 4 tanks.....

Hehehehe. Thats just how much it costs to fill the tanks. The tanks themselves are 30-50 dollars for co2.

yeah i know...heh....i figure to fire a whole box of 2000 paint balls without a refill, i will need like 4 tanks....30 bux each isnt that much..

A lot of places still have some left over Spectra IZEs in the discontinued colors, they're going really cheap like $30. If you look for them, just make sure that you get both sets of lenses.

The guy who said the R/T upgrade wasn't worth it and didn't increase your rate-of-fire obviously hasn't used one. It is the single best upgrade you can get on the M98 Custom. It's not that hard to install yourself, but if you have the money go ahead and order it already installed. It takes a little practice to learn how to tune in your rate of fire properly and find the sweet spot, but once you do..........look out! I would much rather spend the $70 on the R/T and not have the batteries to worry about, the worry about getting electronics wet, or the cost of electros.

Dude just stick with the custom model 98 maybe later on upgrade to full auto and put the low pressure kit in. Don't buy more than 2 tanks! Most fields give you unlimited air throughout the day for a flat rate! That means you run out they fill it up. Besides where are you gonna put all those tanks when you're playing! I also recommend getting a harness from Ronin Gear or Redz. Also try JT maxim paintballs expensive but good! Lastly get a v-force mask not the armor!
