Hi! I'm trying to buy a new gun. It is a used '00 cocker w/ 14" AA barrel, and the seller is selling it for a very decent price ($275 US). My dad, however, objects because the person who's selling it to me is a "complete stranger." Any ideas how to let this go through are of course welcome :).

further info (if you care):
Yes, I am buying the gun with my own money (I got it from my job, and this gun will be the first single purchase over $20 that I've spent with money I earned by myself. Of course I have also tried pulling the card, "this will help me learn the lesson of money by experience, blah, blah, blah..." He countered by completely ignoring me and watching Kofi Annon on tv. I'm 16 years old, if you care.)

In other words, my problem is somehow insuring that I don't get ripped off.

Hmmm.

He has to give you his name and his adress for you to send the money.... So if he screwes you over just get the cops on his ***.. Even if its not really his name or adress the cops would trace it to him... Also, ask why hes selling the gun.. and if he were really trying to screw you he would include a freak system or something just so youd take the deal.. As long as the deal sounds reasonable its probably legit.. Ebay is basically the same damn thing..

Hope that helped

I have done alot of deals.....most people are honest....anyway...try sending a us postal money order.....and have him send it US mail.....this way if something goes wrong ....it's mail fraud.....and the post office WILL find him.....

Just a sugestion....

Offer to put down half and send the other half upon reciept of the gun. Use the money order idea with this one.

You can also use a regular check. If he tries to screw you out of the gun you can put a stop payment on the check.
