Hey I just got a pro seal power tube and a maddmann spring kit for my tippmann 98C, I installed the them, took it out to the field today and was shooting 350+ fps with the velocity screw all the way in ( that was with the red spring)
So I had to take my marker apart and put the original spring in, when I went to chrono I was still shooting a constant 325 fps. Luckily the Refs were not paying attention so I went to go play because I already missed 3 games screwing around with my gun.
Being a NOOB to the sport I dont know how to fix this problem, any suggestions. Thanks

A RVA and/or a lighter spring should do the trick. This is more of a Coenen or Natural Newbie question though.

You're lucky you didn't get kicked from the field for that. Next time, take the time to get your marker shooting <= 300fps.

HEY,
Get a CAR stock for it. The newer ones have a velocity adjuster on it. Make sure it is the one witht the veliocity adjuster tho. Good luck and happy hunting.

meh, car stocks suck IMO
im guessing the red spring is the strongest one, switch it with one of the lighter ones.

He said he already replaced the spring with the original spring. I suggest getting an RVA as Greedy said.

you are damn lucky you didnt injure somebody...
i dont think the pro seal tube can be causing the high fps...
if it was the stock spring, it should have went back to normal.
weird.

the spring kit also comes with lighter drive springs.

Thanks people for all the tips but I still have 2 questions:
1- what in da hell is a RVA?
2- does the lightest spring in the maddman kit have less tension than the stock spring.
oh yeah and for all of those worried about me hurting somebody, I knew that I could hurt someone shooting 320fps so, I didn't shoot anybody that was closer than 60ft. Also the field that I play at has a 20ft surrender rule so thats how I took people out of the game. :D

The only solution i can think of is to cut a few coils off the spring.

1. Like Eryk said Rear Velocity Adjuster. Look it up in the Reviews.
2. Again, a Lighter drive spring. The green spring in the Maddman spring kit should be lighter than the Stock spring. If that's still not enough you may have to follow what hybrid said and cut the spring.
Keep in mind cutting the spring should be your absolut last resort.

thanks people for all of the help.
I put the green spring in, and now I am just waiting for my next trip to the field to chrono. I better not be shooting over 300 fps this time
One last thing, if the green spring doesn't work how many coils should I cut off.

I know you said you had the velocity screw all the way in but why dont you back your velocity all the way out until the darn thing falls out then start all over....you need to trouble shoot cause if you alread put the stock spring back in and its still hot putting the green spring in wont do anything but wast your time.... back your velocity adjustment screw out all the way and start from scratch then move on towards the cutting of springs but for gods sake do anything else first.....i wouldnt recoment cutting springs to anyone, they are made the way they are for a reason.

its probably cuz of ur metal powertube I have one but i dont have that problem ( i dont think) I know a lot of other ppl who have problems wit hthat too. One way I heard to solve this prob is to get a regulator but is expensive the female palmer stabilizer is availible at www.countypaintball.com and needs mounting rings to get on ur gun . that way, the air pressure is controlled b4 it even gets into ur gun so theres no way it can outshoot the bps regulation. Also, regulators keep your gun way consistent plus minus about 3 or 4 fps at the chrono while firing fast
