View Full Version : A story of a Talon...

One day I went to a huge paintball war in my friends 10 acre avocado grove. I had my tricked shutter (o yeah!), and the host of the party, so to speak, had a talon (don't laugh...yet). Well, about half way through the war, I was teamed up with him (the Talon guy, which i will call X), and we were gettin pinned down behind a pile of dead star fruit (there is a tropical fruit farm next door). I'm guessing there musta been about 4 guys against us 2. So I told him to lay down some suppressive fire while I flank them from the left (I had full auto on, so i figured it wouldn't be too tough). He starts firing away. They all get their heads down (yeah, imagine that...). I run as fast as i can, and spray the whole area. I tag 2 out who were hiding behind some tall grass and a small avocado tree. Two more (i think). X pops up and starts lettin rounds out while I follow suit. Suddenly, I here this loud concussion. We pause the game to see WTF was going down. I walk over to Jon, and there is his Talon, on the ground, in 2 pieces. It was completely broken in half, right down the middle (where the chamber is). Turns out, it had a gas malfunction, and blew the thing apart.
That coulda really hurt someone. Just one more reason not to buy BE products.

Thats crazy! Ive heard of blades doin that but hardly talons (idk y, arent they made of the same stuff?). I seen my friends blade explode before. Is there a warning on those things about possible explosion?

uh, dude, that was 2 years ago, when i first started playing. What position are you in to call me a noob? And don't throw that 'i've been playing for 10 years bs at me either'. That's what i don't like about this website. Just because someone has a life other than paintball doesn't mean it makes him automatically a 'noob'.

Welp, umm, you could have stated the fact that this was from a few years ago, instead of makign the rest of us think this just happened....
Once you've been here for a while, you develope this "edge" towards everybody. Stick around for a while and you'll see what I mean...sorry.

How come nobody has ever given ANY real proof for a Brass Eagle marker exploding?

aight im just wonderin why peaple call rookies or young guns, starters are whatever name you give someone thats just starting out, you call em noobs, now i have allways known it to be newbe for this reson:
new+be=newbe
no+ob=noob
now look at noob how do you get a word out of that compared to newbe.

ghosts seem to leak more often in my experience...
Considering even a4s, excals, dm4s, tricked cockers and xmags all have malfunctions, this is hardly a reason not to buy be. I would rather destroy my $30 gun than have a faulty piece on my $1500 gun that could cost $50-$200 to fix.
Now, my friend was gasing up his rt pro mag, somehow a hole burst in the hose under enough pressure that it busted his eardrum. By your reasoning no one should ever buy a mag right? Because he actually did get hurt from this.

I will agree, I think the older regular Talons are somehow built better, you could say. Any Talon Ghost i've seen breaks after a while, yet most of the old grey Talons I see still working, despite great abuse. Interesting...

yeah, the ghosts break easier cause it has a clear shell, which is weaker (as of what i've heard).

whats wrong with the talon? It's good quality for its price (an exception on the ghost). Do you expect a $20 marker to last you forever? The Talon is actually a pretty good pump if you get a C/A adapter for it. Considering that the cheapest pump besides that is a PGP 2, which is about $70.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't going to.
Tigersharks, mavericks, tracers, blades, their all cheaper than pgp2s.

The talon is £30 over here in the uk so its not surprising if they dont last you forever, if you want to play paintball with other players please dont use plastic weapons in future ,they have a tendancy to explode when under so much C02 pressure and being hit by 250fps .68 caliber paintballs. There was one story that was funny about a b.e. blade exploding in the reviews section for it, this particular story isnt as funny but its good to hear the players are learning from using back garden markers instead of £50 plus metal semi automatic ones.

iv never even herd of a talon or blade doing this......
iv got a talon that is one of the first out.......gey colored now and the lettering all fadded and a newer one and a ghost. and never replaced a part on any one them and all work ok. but during a game at a buddies house his sister set hers on a car and it slid off and broke the barrel off....and it was a ghost......they seem more brittle to me......because the other two have fallen and been banged around a lot and are in good shape......
explode.....never seen it.....not in the woods or as a ref on the field
