Ok....each nitro tank has an expiration date on it...but what does that mean? Does that mean if i spend $400 on a MaXFloW and then i have to chuck it in 3 years? i hear ur supposed to air check it? if that'll save mah tank how much does it cost? and can i get it checked anywhere?

You will have to get it Hydro tested. What that is, is putting it in a tank of water and overpressurizing it to make sure that it will not blow up. Its a safety issue, and you should be able to find out where you can get it done from the guys at your local shop.

Yup...that's right...and the luxfer tanks are now 5 years...I think that's 5 years after the first hydro... you would have to check the luxfer site ...but I saw it in APG and P2EX as well as one other mag.

Remember the Nitro goes bad after a while to...change your nitro regularly! :D

10-50 dollars.

You can go to a local scuba shop and they may have places for testing. Theres a site online where u can see pics of what they do.

Unfortunately, most stores and fields never look at the date. They routinely refill expired tanks.

They will stop after they have one blow up in their hand or on a customers marker.

Fortunately, there is enough margin of error designed into the tanks that the burst disk blows long before the tank does. So it is an extremely rare occurance.

But I use certified tanks only strapped right over my spinal cord.

Our store has used 'loaners' so the kid can still play this weekend while his tank is off being hydrotested. If it is the same size tank, we ususally just swap.

Just sent a 4500 - 68 ci back to Air America for recert and regulator repair.

$45 but that includes return freight.

Their regulators are lifetime warranty with no questions asked. I not the original owner either.

I'm getting mine repaired for free.

Our store charges $30 for a CO2/nitro tank Recert.

You can try a local scuba shop if you live around/near one. I went to one and they said they can go and send it off to get it tested.

The only bad thing about it is it takes maybe a week or so to get it back.

i think it's five years. it should be written on the tank near the very top though. it's sorta engraved in the tank.

Oh man I was just kidding but that's a good ?... I don't think it would hurt it... I currently have 2.5k left in my tank (see sig). I really don't think it should do anything... :eyes: but...i'm not sure:crazy:

Alright well it says in the mags that they are extended to 5 years so i'm pretty sure (that kicks *** dont it?) PMI uses Luxfer tanks and I think ND does also...probably some others too. I'm gonna get around to checking the LUxfer site soon just to make sure. My tank is a 9/01...hehe...so i got a while! Someone also posted that they thought it was 5yrs after you got it hydroed...but i'm not sure which is correct. I think 5yrs after it's new would make more sence..don't you?

Also anyone know where I can get myself a black raise tank cover for a good price?
