Alright, I've played paintball for around three years, all rec ball. Since i've never been that serious I invested in a minimag two years ago which produced great results. I've customized it with a new grip, venturi bolt, cradle, boomstick, etc.... it hasn't given me any problems or anything really but now I want to compete in tournaments. I started by playing at a tournament at survival new york with my friends in their qualification tournament series for the world cup. At the tournament I couldnt keep up with the Rof of the electric guns. My friends had all invested in either angels or cockers but I decided to stick with my mag. Now however, I want to go electro. I gave my minimag to my younger brother for christmass and decided to save up for an electro. I have around 900.00. I already have nitro and everything but I was wondering which gun to buy. My friend is getting a dark angel 2k1 so hes willing to sell me his angel for 850. however i also like the shocker 4x4 which i have shot at a few fields. as well as the new ematrix. they all seem to shoot the same but the shocker is the heaviest and the cheapest. Like I said, I can buy any of them but im not sure which one to buy. Could someone please give me suggestions as to which gun I should purchase, thanx

i dont like the shoker or matrix b/c they are gas hogs. Id get that angle its an awsome deal. Dark Angels are awsome. And with the extra 50 you could buy some paint for your next tourny. The other thing I would have suggested was making your mag electric, but you cant do that now.

you may want to consider a bob long intimidator also, but eltwitcho will sell you that scheme. LOL :)

i know both the matrix and shocker are gas hogs, but you can get around 800 shots on a 20oz Co2 for the shocker and around 600 - 700 on a 3000 n2 and since i play mid, thats fine for me. I really dont like the bob long intimidator. It just doesnt feel right when i shoot it. The only things that stops me from getting the angel is that from my experience, the angel shoots the same as either the shocker and the ematrix, as far as accuracy is concerned that is. However, the difference in price between the angel or/either ematrix or shocker, allows me to buy extra barrels, a new cradle and possibly a better regulator. There lies my dilema.

hmmm, well if you dont mind only getting 800 shots per fill from a shocker, then id get that. Id also try and get a freak barrel set if it is going to be a tournoment gun. As for a cradle, get a KAPP DZII if you dont allready have one. There are other things you may want on a shocker, but i dont know? As for the matrix, I like the shocker better. I feel that smart parts is a great manufacturer and makes great guns and barrels. And w/ a shocker you can use the smart paint which I kinda like.

Go matrix! why???
Pros:
Angel like Speed
Angel like Trigger
Angel like Accuracy
Angel like consitency
Un-Angel like price
Interchangable Forebreach
Great stock barrel
Simple to maintain (just lube them O-rings)
Low pressure 140psi (add on a $70 rock reg and it's IMPOSSIBLE to chop, just pinches the ball)
Cons:
Grips (as of now can only be replaced by LCD grips)
Shocker-esque ugly
Shocker-esque efficency
Future:
Bolt mod that will GREATLY improve it's efficiecy
Rock Mod mentioned previously
Hyper chip to give you all those fancy modes of fire like an angel for about $25
You can buy the gun stock for $650 if you know where to look, add about $125 in mods, and you've got one helluva gun.
There is already custom Matrix's out there too, and expect ALOT of mods for it this summer
The pros outweigh the cons by a severe margin......Go matrix

go angel, why?
greatest gun ever just look at the majority of the guns used in tourney cockers and angels.

It's super accurate. If you only need two shots for every 5 from another gun, you're just saving money!
go shocker they aren't as big of a gas hog as everyone says. they come with a 200 dollar regulator, and an all american barrel. they are one of the (if not the) quietest gun on the market, plus they are as accurate as an angel but get more distance. i would get a 4X4 shocker for a tourny any day. mine is turbo but it is an early model and has the dip switches on the inside so i can turn the turbo off from the inside. if you can get one of those do it...otherwise just get the 4X4.

well i decided to go with the matrix. i know i know, the angels great, so i the shocker but..........i got a great deal on the matrix it was nice, kapp cradle; ematrix w/pewter grips and lcd grips; 114 3000 nitro duck tank; titanium boomstick AND cp barrel. now your all wondering how much this cost, i mean the titanium boom is alone 150 at least. all of this put me back a total of 772.15 with shipping. Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions. it helped me narrow my choices
ps. it was new

One question that I have heard is the thing about water. I have heard that angels and other electros are made to be water resistant. Now my friend who owns a crapy Pro/Carbine is jelous that electros are better and says that if you spilt 1/2 a glass of water on one it would break. Now I have heard that you can dunk an angel into a tub of water for a minute, take it out and go play with no problems, just dont leave it in for a cuple of hours. Which is true?

The circuit boards in most electros these days are waterproof, but you generally shouldnt get the much water into the solenoid. You wont have any water problems with an electro unless you're an idiot, in which case you deserve a broken gun

hmm... i suppose it all depends on your tastes, really almost all electros are shooting the same when it comes to ROF. When it comes to prices most of it depends on the name of the gun and on the place it is made.
Since you've already that offer to buy that dark angel, go for it. It has reputation to be the best. The options, trigger, etc is unparalleled. If you want to save money for mods go buy the shocker, matrix or intimidator. Well, those are the four best in my opinion. Shockers to me don't seem as reliable as the others. I dunno, I've never owned one, but I've seen a number go down. They're also kinda tall and bulky for my tastes. The matrix is new and so I haven't seen it in action too often, but it's dang sweet. Almost like an angel but without all the fancy options. Just flip the switch and shoot. You won't be using turbo in tournaments anyways, and less parts and options means less chance of it going down. And intimidators? Well, I'm looking to buy one so I'm biased :P
Good luck with yer choice. And if anyone wants to sell a Timmy email me.

I just can't see the logic in buying a NEW marker that says in the ads "Limited Edition." I would be nervous about trying to get parts for it in a few years.

no no no, its not a limited edition gun, its the first 1000 sold are limited editions. They all have a special pewter grips. That is what makes them limited edition. Those guns are no longer made with the pewter grips. And I have the matrix now and it shoots great check my review out

GET THE MATRIX..
Check out the video at
http://www.diablodirect.com/markers_frame.html
And thats semi no turbo at all. And the Matrix is a gas hog BUT when diablo produces about 1000 markers then a new bolt will prob come out. I think the serial numbers are up to aobut 700 now. So it shouldnt be long and the new bolt will be out, its supposed to give 40% more efficiency..
And get the Trinity Reg Mod, its only $75.00 and you can istall it in 5 min without tools, and the rock is like $125.00 and you have to send your gun in and you have all those external lp hoses. But the Matrix is amazingly fast and simple, and has TREMENDOUS accuracy, and with the Trinity Reg you will almost eliminate chopping since there is only about 90psi hitting the ball.
And the Cypher Chip (30.00) gives the Matrix 16 firing modes..
Add those and you will have angel plus performance,(and alot of extra $$ in your hand) except you dont get the fancy LCD SCREEN..:( OHHHHHH. Oh well I can live without it.
Just my .02, its your 950..
But you would be really happy with the matrix..

FireHawk has it all right to.. Just adding a little :)
