i wasnt aware that pros wipe so much i would think that because they are pros and they love the game so much they would treat it with respect and abide by the rules, also i think they would want to push the sport and help it get out to more people but all they are doing is slowing that process down, by constantly cheating

Winning=prizes/money/etc...
cheating=easier to win
Get the picture? All that matters to them is winning, by whatever means neccesary.

It's cheating when you get caught.

HEY,
I agree with mr tigglebitties. Its not a crime until you get caught. Good luck and happy hunting.

If you don't do it, you are at a huge disadvantage b/c a lot do.:|

I've played in one tournament and won't anymore because of the pervasiveness of cheating. (Our team played fairly, and lost I believe purely because of that.) Eventually, the officiating will catch up and cheating will get much harder.

Wiping is a reason we have fast firing guns... You may be able to wipe one, but it's hard to wipe 5, 6, or 7.

At least in rec, most people don't wipe. If someone does, you can figure it out fairly quickly. I always shoot in 15-round bursts at wipers, then they just want to make the pain stop.
In tourneys though, a lot of times you only have a 1-second window to hit someone...so it's easier to wipe.

i think of somone gets caught wiping during a tourney they should be disqualified and get last cause if you wipe your a looser and you just plain suck

If you think about it, it's just like every other sport. In football do think that none of the pro-lineman hold?? They just get better at not getting caught. Everyone wipes every once in a while.

I am going to go ahead and totally disagree with you on the "only noobs wipe". I have ref'ed for quite a while and the worst offenders are ALWAYS the open players. Most of the time a lot of newer players don't even know to wipe. If you look at most of the tourny paint they all point out how thick the fill is. They do that so because it's harder to wipe, and they know that players wipe from time to time.

I think that's what the "141" and the "241 rule are for. You just have to have good refs to have a fair game.

how about penalitys like in other "sports"
if you push someone in basketball...foul possible ejection
if you break a rule in in football........................possible ejection
if you fight in hockey.........................penalty box possible ejection
if you wipe in paintball......................no big deal everyone does it
this is crap you wipe you should be suspended for a while

good point, in hockey people tend to get away with some punches, and bud ends into the sides which are very hard to catch.

One of hockey's selling point to the fans is fighting. Sad but true, most watch for fights, and with a decrease of fights there have been lower ticket sales etc...
Personally I can't stand wiping, I have never done it, no can I stand to see it done. I've watched people in open play who seem to be respected and good paintballers, wipe, and it yanks my chain... I think that paintball needs to get away from cheating, I mean, these pro players are good but are also cheaters at the same time, kinda ruins pro stuff for me. Also I think that like local tournament style paintball is also affected by seeing pro's wipe, and I've have yet to play in a tourny, but got the chance to watch one, and the team that won most of the time, got away with cheating... Not to say that they didin't have skill, but they will do anything to win. Now I will be getting into touraments once I get or get on a team, or somehting, and this whole wiping thing just kinda ruins the whole idea for me. Now I am a mostly good guy, don't do bad stuff or anything, and so I believe I would be at a disadvantge if I played and didn't wipe. Now I am only basing this off what I have seen, and am not sure if wiping will be a major deal once I play...

the point is that if u got shot one time, thats easy to wipe...but if u get shot 3 or more....somebody will catch you and if u got shot on the back, its pretty hard to wipe....im not talkin bout myself BTW....i have seen ppl with wiping alot....how to solve it? tell the ref to keep a eye on that person and eventually, the person wiping would b caught

If getting shot at the most obvious places I would call my self out, for instacne my mask, hair. But if off the break I got shot anywhere on my body I would just do the superman dive to wipe it.

What are you talking about possible ejection? Pushes in basketball are minor, a change in possesion whoop-de-dee. Holding in football 10 yard penalty move on. Fighting in hockey happens every game and almost never are they ejected unless it's very serious.

Yeah, I totally agree, like the videos of people like Bob Long, Lasoya, Dynasty, all them wiping, they're all newbs!
I've said it once, I'll say it again. Wiping is an aspect and part of paintball that is here to stay. Get used to it.

I have never really "wiped," but I have done some damn good work at covering over shots. For instance, a guy nailed me twice in the shoe and I was able to push my foot into the mud and up against the bunker to hide the shot.
I've also been able to conceal pack shots by turning my back into the bunker or ground. I don't really do it that much, though, but if you're not being watched, paintball IS a sport and people DO cheat in sports, so accept it.
Edit: And in the end, I think I'm a hypocrite in a sense because I flip out when I see someone whipe one of my shots, which I've seen a lot. "REF. GET THE MOTHER ****ER OUT OF THERE BACK RIGHT. ****ING 2 GOD DAMN SHOTS IN THE PACK ****ER WHIPED!" But at least I never got caught, or I'd feel like **** for doing it. Be careful what you wipe, hahaha.

I think there IS a penalty for wiping in tourneys. The 141 and the 241 like I just stated. Can you guys read?

ya, if the game just starts thats usually when most people wipe if they get hit, but if its like 5-3 and u kinow u dont stand a chance you mine as well just go out.

the way i see it is if you get shot you are out period...and if there is a penalty for wiping than that means that it is illegal.
if you get shot you are out. I play rec ball and milsim...if you get shot you die. you cannot just wipe a bullet so why cheat and make the game unrealistic by wiping...
sure there is money involved in tourny games but i hope all you wipers enjoy your DIRTY money

Hambone do you even know what a 141 or a 241 is? It's a penalty for playing on past a hit or wiping. If you get caught wiping, the closest player next to you on your team is pulled out of the game "141". If you play on and bunker 2 guys, you lose one of your teamates for each guy you bunkered past your hit "241"341"441" depending on how overeager your frontman was. Obviously hambone you have never even been in a tourney.

ok, first of all this isn't "real" so let's not pretend that it is. Because if this was "real" then every ball that bounces should eliminate you too. I don't understand why everyone freaks out over this stuff. It's just a game guys...thats all..just a game. If somebody wipes off a hit...shoot them again, and again, and yell for a ref. They can't wipe them all.

Part of the reason you never wipe is probably because you sit in the woods for an hour all camoed up before someone actually hits you, and it's obvious when they do.
This thread pertains to pros and speedballers who wipe. Not milsim camo tippy guys.

what you fail to grasp with your onesided egotistical minimal mental compacity is that either way no matter what you play wiping is cheating.
it dont matter what you play how you play it what marker you use or if you "camp" as you assumed i did (which we all know what it means when you assume)
wiping = cheating
wipers = people who cannot stand to loose
people who cannot stand to loose = to immature to grasp the simple rules for paintball

Wiping propagates wiping. I knwo that's a big word for some 2 year olds in this thread who don't understand why pros do it.
Let me explain something to all of you new kids. There are three kinds of play.
"Honorable," "Gray area," and just plain "cheating".
Honorable players will always confess to a break, wil never overshoot, yada yada. The perfect player.
Gray area players include mysel. I do not wipe, but I understand the temptation, even at a local level. I will, however, commit "gray plays". For instance, if I think i hit someone and I call for a paint check, I am going to continue raining in paint. When other people have called paitnchecks on me, when i know I'm not hit, I will not let the ref hinder my game. if they're gonna play the "paintcheck to screw the other guy up" card, then I'm going to keep shooting back, even as I'm getting checked, which is legal. And I'm going to move wherever offers the best playing vantage. I've pushed myself into refs to get them to move the hell over so I can at least play instead of getting shot out because I can't return fire.
I've executed a dead man's walk in a tourney....and surprisngly, the other team congradualted me on it.
I've turned off my ball feed so I dry fire and it sounds like I'm out of paint. When the inevitable bunker comes, i switch it back on and away I go.
But I do NOT break rules and I don't wipe.
But let me explain the temptation. One tourey I played at I had the misofrtune of getting nailed on the top of my knee as I dropped into a slide. Not before my slide, but as I was actually dropping. I finished the slide and then checked, as any sensible player will do. Looking at my pants leg, the dust had completely obscured the hit, but i could see the pattern of the hit where dust had clung to the paint. I could have VERY easily gotten away with it. I paid $75 to get into this three man on top of my paint. The top prize were some pretty decent electros. The game was an important one. I could have stayed in. but I stood up and called myself out. The ref even asked me where I'd been hit on my way out and I showed him the pattern. And then I handed over my armband.
I'll do whatever it takes to win. That's what I'm there for. but I won't cheat. I might as well buy a gun and tell everyone I won it. At least then i get to pick which gun I "won."
Other teams like to cheat. Those are the ones that I usually play fiercest against. I know I may have to hit the same player on two or more occasions. I've played I tourneys agianst former teammates who thought they were too good for me and my intolerance for cheating. And I've beaten them.
When you are playing a team you know wipes, when you've spent a grand or more to get to this tourney and play it, you have a hell of a lot of money on the line.
Playing local, some team would always show up.....different team each time, but you know the type. Full camos, Tippmanns and Stingrays with scopes......
Felt kinda bad for them, but they would walk away thinking we wiped, which really made me mad. they would think everyonje there was a cheater and the refs were biased. Sorry, but there's cheating, and then there's just being in a place where you don't belong yet.
Show no mercy in paintball, for you shall receive none.

so is walking across the street outside of a crosswalk
so is underage drinking
so is smoking before your 18
so are many types of..ahm..smoking substances..
