Is it ok to clean your barrel with water or will it rust? rest of the gun?

If the barrel is made of aluminum or stainless steel it won't rust(neither will bronze, titanium or carbon fiber). Warm water should be fine, just don't stick it in the dishwasher or use brushes on it

When you get out of the shower, what's the first thing you do? Dry off! Right! As long as you wipe down what ever type of barrel you've got, you should be alright.

Usually I run around my apartment complex for singing "It isn't easy being green". You know drying off might be a better idea.....

Seriously though, Kats' right just take it easy on the inside of the barrel & it'll be fine. I rinse my Freak kit in warm water & have had no problems with it.

if it was made out of cold roll steel or low carbon it would rust very fast. all the barrels that are made are stainless, aluminum titanium,or carbon fiber. none of these have iron in them so they wont rust. you could let it air dry if you want

allmetals oxidize that is what rust is

aluminum oxidizes it will get a white chalky look to it
stainless stell can rust liek regular steel but it is very hard and it should never happen so dont worry about it
brass does to it gets green green likke copper

titanium is weird it requires a coating or somehting can happen to it but i forgot what

I know that & you know that, but I think he was really refering to the barrel rusting like the body of a '78 Ford LTD.
It just seemed to be easier to exlpain it the way I did rather than confuse him with talk about potential for oxidation, etc.
Both titanium & stainless can flake, this is the reason for the coating on titanium barrels. Stainless will only do that if it has been abused fairly hard.
He really isn't likely to see oxidation/encrustation or corrosion any ANY barrel he has unless he is completely neglectful in maintaining it. I.E. Leaves the aluminum ones outside in the rain all the time.
