When i go to my field i play in the open class (which means any body can play in it). I play in this class and not the advance class because you can't bunker in the open class. In a way im a little afraid of getting bunkerd.

So what's the best way to get over my "fear" of not gettong bunkered?

Oh and how bad does it hurt?

by the way, getting shot doesn't bother me, just bunkering does.

i got bunkered at my last tournament. the guy shot me 4 times in the back. i didn't really feel it. it felt like someone shot me from the other side of the field. it don't really hurt unless u get shot in the pinky finger twice when it is in the low 30's.

yeah being bunkered is pretty much the same as being shot mid field...

Being bunkered doesn't realy hurt that much. Most of time ur really into the game so it wont hurt more much than a normal shot. The only way u'll ever know is to play advanced and be bunkered.

ive been bunkered quite a lot as well...

doesnt hurt that much...usually, a close-range shot will get a bit numb before it hurts a whole lot...trust me...this is coming from a guy who shot himself in the finger about two inches from a 14" evil pipe barrel on an omen when it was shooting hot at 325fps...

but then again, htere are always exceptions...my back player got bunkered from his blindside...it was like a 5v1 on him, and this guy just snuck up behind him. shot him in the back once.

this was a few months ago, and he still has the scar. his leg was twitching the whole day...lol

sry if that scared u, but i mean...i dont wanna lie to u either :P

getting bunkered is fun, u get to brag about it afterwards...

bunkering sum1 is even better...'cause u can brag even more afterwards :D

Its when someone runs up beside you and shoots you from a very close range. This guy in the pic is being bunkered.

Little tip. If you know you are getting bunkered or the guy misses you, lay down on your back and shoot. Try keeping your legs closed though. I was playing a ref at my field and he layed down when I bunkered him (or tried. It was a bounce) and didn't close his legs.

It wasn't my fault

well it hurts your pride but doesnt hurt that bad.,. i've been bunkered a few times and only once did it really hurt... i think the guy was shooting hot.. he put a hole in my shirt..the gog shot cracked my lens. and really hurt my pinky finger......its just a rush so you dont even feel it..:| ..um yea you cant even feel it...:D ....just messing it can hurt. but it doesnt always. its just part of the game and its worth it!

It hurts this much:

|-------------------------------------------|

Yes, I'm kidding. It doesn't really hurt that much unless it was from like where that TonTon is getting shot at. Most people who bunker here just come around the bunker and get, maybe, 3 or 4 feet away from you. But that's in rec. I've seen many players come over the top of bunkers and just absolutely nail the guy in the top of the head. So, to answer your question, if the adrenaline is pumpin' then it won't hurt.

The best way to get over your fear of bunkering is to always be looking around you. Most of the time people get bunkered because they are only shooting at one part of the field. This is sometimes called "tunnel vision", when they are focused on one person in a bunker and not the whole other team.

all these guys are right on . it's all part of the game, no matter how close someone is when they get you.

i don't get bunkered a lot (i only remember twice) & neither were too bad. first time 3 guys rushed my bunker & i got 2 of em but the last one made it around & shot me in the butt :sulk:.

the second time i had a break in the barrel & was feeling a little down anyway so i just sat there for a few seconds holding the barrel in one hand & the marker in the other. i heard a voice say, quite calmly, "surrender." then he shot me once in the foot & moved on.

the rest were really counter-bunkers, where someone would try to bunker me but we'd get each other out or visa versa.

Ghost2867

just try to bunker someone else first...lol...if that made any sense...

try bunkering someone urself...look at their reaction...that should let u kno about how much it'll hurt...:P

i kno i must've messed this one guy up bad...i must've nailed him in the lower back/harness/a** like 10-15 times...

it was a run-up bunker...i was hitting him as i was running up...but there was a guy in another bunker farther back that happened to be lined up with this guy, so i ended up overshooting him...:|

it was nice tho, 'cause i took down the rest of the team, and everyone watching was cheering for me... :D

rofl yes. set it up a game, tell yourself your gonna bunker someone, then do it..should get you over the fear, especially if you get shot. getting bunkered sucks, not cuz of the pain, but because you got owned and everyone saw it..:(

It doesn't hurt that much but once I was with some guys behind a log and we were just going to completely slaughter someone on the other side of the log who obviously didn't know we were there but just before we were gonna make our move he jumps over the log just then realizing that what he was jumping into shoots everybody but me (I just surrendered because my gun wasn't pointed at him but his was pointed at me) anyways one of the guys that got shot the paintball went through his shirt and made his arm bleed a bit... Good times.

Being bunkered really doesn't hurt very much. My first post (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1231528#post1231528) here was on the first time I got bunkered (three times at one, I sucked that bad then) and those hits were my first bruises from paintball. I was all giddy about it. :)

I think you'll barely notice the pain when you get bunkered. It's just like any other shot, you've got too much adrenalin pumping in you that helps you not feel that much pain.

Best way to get bunkered is to try and bunker someone, because likely, you'll do it wrong and get shot anyway, you just weren't planning on it at least.
Second reccomendation is to be bunkered. This will probably happen your first time playing open class.
Third thing is to ALWAYS remember, no one has died form a paintball hit, no matter how close.

Depending on where you get hit, it can feel like a railroad spike on the world's largest rubberband just popped you in you backside, or you don't even realize it happaned becuase you're so pissed off someone is trying to bunker you and...HOW DARE THEY!

Ghost2867
04-22-2004, 05:35 PM
the first time i ever got bunkered i actually didnt get hit...i surrendered believe it or not...:eyes: ...first and last time i ever surrendered...

he had his barrel pointing point blank on my neck, and said, "surrender"...so i did...

second time i got bunkered ever was a game where we got completely raped...

i hit the 50, and as i'd slid in, i felt some hits...so i checked myself...then i get bunkered...

it'll happen when u least expect it. i cant say that you'll be ready for it, but still...it'll be fun! :P

gettin bunkered isnt a big deal, and generally its not too hard to avoid it unless your team is in trouble. Just don't get tunnel vision.

and if you are into the game you usually wont feel it or feel it very little...

One time I was runnin up to bunker my friend and as I attempted to jump over a laydown bunker in front of his I flat out tripped

So he ran up and bunkered me instead...but I saw him comin, didn't even feel the shot

generally...

however, even if u knew it were coming, its still very likely that you'll get bunkered anyway.

u'd have to work as a single unit with ur team in order for the chance of getting bunkered to be near zero...

Bunkering kind of hurts, if you havent been playing very long, and havent been shot a couple times, itll hurt. Dont get me wrong, it wont be like a kick in the nuts, but itll be like one of those birthday punches we are all accustomed to. But, ussually, you are so into the game, you barely feel it.

Man there was this one time that was really funny when some guy came up and bunkered me and asked me to surrender and without even thinking I fell to my side turned my SL-68 and shot him in the face... I laughed at him when the game was over.

if u play more like a front in speedball, you'll end up getting hit from close-range a lot anyways...

actually, most often in the mask if u snap the way i do...

Theoretical, bunkering should hurt less than being shot at long range. Why? Because at close range, the paintball is going faster, therefore breaks on your skin faster (if it breaks....if not...ow) and doesn't have pressure on your skin for very long. While at long range, the paintball is going slower, and it takes longer to break on your skin, therefore have longer applied pressure on your skin.

This of course doesn't include bounces.......which just hurt like a *****.

I've never been bunkered but yesterday my friend shot me on my bare arm from about 15 feet away and all I have is a VERY small buise and ehat appears to be extremely small scabs. For some reason paintball shots never really give me a bad bruise.

getting bunkered is not hat bad just have someone shoot you in the a once from five feet away if you cry for an hour donn't play the advanced if not you will no longer be afriad of this aspect of the game.

Worst buker i ever saw was someone getting shot 7 times in the arm wrist and hand there was some blood on the hand but the kid was fine

Don't worry it wont be that bad

interesting idea, but its not necessarily the amount of pressure that's applied for a certain amount of time.

a ball coming in at close range comes in at a faster speed than a ball coming in at a longer range. therefore, more pressure will be applied...and so it'll hurt more, or less depending on whether it goes numb or not.

the amount of time that it stays unbroken on u doesnt matter so much. the reason is, as soon as it hits u, it loses almost all of its momentum, and its energy. that's all been applied to u...or something like that...

actually, look at it this way.

if u get punched in the arm, and the person immediately removes his fist from ur arm, it hurts.

if u get punched in the arm, adn the person holds his fist there, then it hurts the same amount...

if he were to punch u lightly, then it would hurt less regardless.

if he were to punch u harder, it would hurt more regardless...

that's the only way i can really put it into words...and trust me...i have lots of experience from getting punched...

the reason why bounces hurt more i think is because when a paintball breaks, much of the energy that the ball had from moving gets spread out or something...

damnit, i cant put this into words...

sry

everything before me comes from an idea that makes sense, but that i cant quite put into words...

something like that happened to this one guy...

his system x focker wasnt feeding balls for some reason, like a ball got caught in his feedneck or something, 'cause it was just dry-firing.

he got so pissed that he just went, "f*** it", and ran and tried to bunker a bunker with 4 ppl behind it...

he started spraying, but obviosuly, nothing came out.

I was the SAME way, but after getting the courage i went to advanced. That same day i got shot at point blank range I MEAN BARREL ABOUT HALF AN INCH FROM MY FRIGGIN RIB CAGE, hurt like hell but i got over it really quickly then kicked the guys ***, he was on my own damn team and was "testing his gun"......I got a scar from that shot. Know after almost 2 years of playing advanced i have been bunkered a fair share of times, yes it does hurt but after a few seconds the pain goes away.

The pain usually goes away in 10 seconds. If you fail to bunker someone, expect to be bonus balled as you are walking out. If you can't take being bonusballed then don't try to bunker the guy. Just imagine that you are in a war and you got shotup real bad and you can still walk. It makes the pain feel like nothing. I wear a t-shirt most of time because of the Florida heat.

lol, bunkering is so much fun. My best move, was when it was just me and another player on my team in a tourney, the other team had no clue where I was, they were lookin at my friend. I saw it, and moved from like the 30 up to past hte 50 on the left tape. I bunkered 3 kids, and htye had all 5 left. While I was concentrating on one kid, the other one that was left ran through on me.

My worst move... I hit the 50 off the break, and hte plan was that when I raised my hand, my back guys would get the guys on the lefthand side down, so that I could run through and bunker whoever else was on the 50, making my way to their 40. Well, turns out BOTH my back guys get shot off the break. Lucky me. I raise my hand, wait a second, and wrap around the side of the bunker. Instantly, everyone on their team is shooting at me, it was bad lol. I fell down because it hurt so much. I had both back players ripping on me, one guy that wa at the 50, and a mid player. I counted 17 nice welts after that little ordeal.:D

it owuldve worked out perfectly, because I had a can blocking the back right from me ( i was coming from the right side), and the guy at the 50 didnt even see me there. my worst was on a hyperball field...

one of my friends had just gotten a sprint frame for his spyder, so he was going trigger-happy all day...

it got really annoying, so at the beginning, we'd always try and get him out first.

we decided to push up the right tape, since that was where he was.

at the right 50 is a diamond, then, going forward, 2 castles(or H's) along the tape, and a can on the back rite side.

a teammate and i were at the diamond at the 50, and he was at the can.

we shot for a little while, then he didnt pop out for a while, so i thought he'd moved. so i tried to move to one of the castles.

guess what? he was still there, and he started shooting at me.

i got lit up...like 3-5 hits, and i was trying to raise my hand up. he shot my neck, so i instinctively went and covered that up, and i was more screaming than saying, "im out!"...

that dumbf*** kept on shooting...i got hit maybe 10-15 times overall...

i may sound noob in that one, but hey, it was 3 years ago...:P
