recently, i've posted another question in another forum about smart parts barrels. i got answers saying that they are not what i want to buy. and then i got answers saying that they were the best barrels in the world. so if you own a smart part barrel, or used one, or even seen one being used, or maybe just had some thoughts on this, please tell me why there is such a great big divide.

The reason why there is such a big divide is because the majority of the people in these forums are have very biased opinions... it's like "I have XXXXX barrel, so this is the best!" to get the best opinions you would have to ask people who have used a SmartParts barrel, and have had the change to actually compare it to other barrels out there. Other factor to keep in mind is that maybe this person didn't shoot the right paint though the barrel, and got assumed it was a terrible barrel.

I have tried many different barrels, and I am a avid believer in SmartParts Barrels, they are great! The only draw back with their barrels would be the fact that they are not the best barrels to use with super low pressure set up's. But that doesn't matter to me because i'm not into the whole "ooooo, my gun operates at 200psi!" Of the smart parts family, i have tried the Progressive, All American Tear drop (big daddy) and the All American. If you want a quiet barrel, these the quietest barrels i have ever shot! Also very accurate. I have to honestly say that my AA very slightly edges out the accuracy with my Boomy.

i think smart parts barrels are the best buy for your money. my teardrop shoots very quietly and accurately. i was going to get a boomy but they are too expensive so i went with the teardrop after looking on the review boards. like silent knight said, you dont wanna get it for low pressure because the barrel has too much porting and the paintball doesnt go far.but these barrels are reasonably priced, there performance is awesome, and they are quiet. i reccomend these barrels to everyone

well, in the other post, everyone was telling me to get cp's, or lapcos, but no smart parts. i was told that their accuracy wasn't as good as the cp or lapco, and that they were gas hogs. i dont' mind having a gas hog since i dont' shoot very much paint, but if a barrel isn't accurate i don't want it. could you help me if you have used both lapco and smart part of cp and smart parts, which of the three is more accurate?

All of the barrels you stated are great barrels. As stated above, paint to barrel match is the most important. Other factors include, price, more or less porting, quiet or not so quiet, color, you get the point. You can't go wrong with any of those barrels. Just decide what you want in a barrel and you will be fine. If you don't care about noise and want black with low porting and want a barrel under $50.00 you could get the Lapco. They don't come in anything but black and ss. If you want the same but in blue maybe a CP. If you must have a quiet barrel in blue then a smart parts in is order. It is all about what you need in a barrel when it comes to deciding between these barrels. You can't go wrong.
Just my opinion.:D

Ok...I want to get the AA for my M98, but I can't seem to find it for under $84. Anyone know of a place I can call (I don't want to order via the net) that would have the AA for a Custom 98 for under $84? Thanks for the help.

In the reviews section people seem to either say "hard to clean out broken paint" or "it isn't as hard as people say". I'm really thinking about getting a AA, what would you guys say about cleaning paint out of the porting?

It probably won't break enough paint for that to be a concern if your setup is any good at all. I think that is one of the factors to choosing a barrel that is least important. With quality barrels it just doesn't happen much. If it does something else could be a problem that needs to be addressed.

I've shot thousands of rounds through my AA and have had only ONE break. When I broke the ball, I simply squeegied the barrel and then I turned the gun upside down, put the barrel plug in and shot all of the paint in the porting out.

Argh. Go figure. Thanks for the tip Death...but I already decided against going with the AA. After still not finding it for the price I was willing to pay, I decided to go with the J&J Pro-1. I used to have a regular J&J, and I liked it, and I've decided to go with that brand again.

(In case you were wondering why I got rid of my original J&J...I bought a Flatline. I shouldn't have. I like playing up front too much I've decided, and I had no need for the Flatline. And with being up front, I wanted more accuracy than the Flatline could give me, so I'm selling that, and going back to a straight barrel.)

Anyway, thanks for the tip man. Sorry I put you to the trouble...

i would think yeah. they are accurate and the gas effiecieny doesn't matter unless you're going lp. then it becomes a different story. btw, just ordered mine from paintballcommand it was a great deal. i hope it gets here by the end of the week. i'll be able to use it on a field tourney then :D i might win a harness. don't need one considering how much paint i use though
