well,

First off  good to see a local posting (yea im a san leandro paintballer)

ok the ups and downs of the bushmaster in a nutshell.

Up:

1) Quite inexpencive compaired to most markers in its class
2) Inexpencive to upgrade. You can go hog wild with upgrades and not break the bank.
3) Ease of use, quite simple to work.
4) Fast and accurate, It will keep up with any of the other high end markers.
5) Reliable, quite simply put. They never break down if you take care of them. Keep them clean, make sure the ram has lube, keep the bolt scratch free, and run clean air (i have a filter on my tank) and it will never fail you.

6) The most important upside, for those of us who live in the bay area, I&Isports in san jose, has a master bushmaster airsmith. The guys name is mike, and I can tell you now. Who needs the factory with this guy around.

Down:

1) It is a electro marker, You will have to treat it as such. Its not like a spyder, hose it off and tuck it away. Spend time cleaning it after each day of play. Keep it in a good case.
2) Stock triger, Its a bit loose fealing. What I mean is side to side it has a little slop. Now this does not bother most people, but you would think they could fix that. Personaly I changed out to a ripper frame and flat trigger.
3) Air, you can not run CO2 on a bushmaster. Also we in the club (the wild geese) have had several probelems running lower end air supplys like the pure energy on it. They work fine, but when you realy lay into it. you get a bit of shootdown on them. Its worth spending the extra $100+ on a better tank and reg.
4) Stock barrel sucks, flat out get a good one when you pick your marker up. I chose to go with the G3 setup.

5) Damn angel players keep getting pissed at you because they spent $1900 bucks on a marker, and your bushy is just as good at half the price.

I hope that helps you out a bit.

The new triggers arent really that bad anymore. If I had a new bushmaster I dont think I would change it.
Im going to argue that the bushmaster has less to maintain than blow backs. Just clean it off and your done and every once in awhile grease everything. I had to do more with my m-98 and of course my cocker than my bushmaster.
If you are looking at the impulse too you should try and play a game with both and see what you like better. The difference between the two isnt really much so which ever feels better is the one you should get.
The bushmaster can run on co2 but its not recommended as with any elextro. If you stuck a max flo and an anti syphon tank, it would be the same as running it on an impulse. I run co2 on my defiant and if you cant get nitro then you can just run co2 with the right setup.

the sonic is a decent marker, a bit out of price for a starter marker, also you could not give me a sonic LPR, but all told is a great marker

Stick with a stock bushy to start and build up. One of the fun things is to toy around and make your own mods.

all i would do is replace those damn grips, the stock barrel isnt as bad as everyone says, its micro honed and everything and isnt picky about paint at all, id just get stickies or panels from dye and play with it to see what else you wanna change, im gonna get a sonic gripframe soon cause its like shootin an angel :D and im also gonna get sonic asa and a gladiator reg. ive played with an impulse that was upgraded some and one stock and for me id have to dump some cash into an imp before i liked it, im picky though. the side 2 side play on the imp is terrible but there are better triggers out there as with the bushy. id get the bushy but its up to you and your prefrences

what's up fellow bay area player! i'm over in SF and i play at the fairgrounds.
your posting is useful cuz i just ordered a 2002 bushy. i have a pure energy tank, so you suggest that i get, say, a crossfire one? how bad is the shootdown with a pure energy?
i was thinking about which marker to buy, and i must admit that i agree with you regarding the angels. i have the cash to get one, but really it's priced at an outrageous amount. 1 g and a half for a paintball gun? man, that's just silly.

Cool, I like mine alot even though i havent got a chance to play a game with mine. AllOleander is getting one too pretty soon too.

I didnt think the barrel was that bad until it started breaking balls. It was prettty acurate but then my friend started breaking some in the barrel and he has an anit chop eye. He has a freak now though.
