Question for you tech types:
Can you use an inline regulator to adjust the velocity?
Why I'm asking: I put a PMI reg on my STS. I've got the spring cranked in all the way and I'm hitting 280 exactly. I wondering if I open the reg up a little more, could I back the spring out some and get the same velocity or higher?

Im kind of confused on what your asking, but I do have a little bit of clue I hope.
If you turn down your reg pressure the velocity should drop a little bit, but if you turn it up you could set your velocity higher...:eyes:

That's what I'm getting at.
when I installed the reg I open it until the marker would recock when fired (note, I did this at home with no chrono around). Then, I steadily opened it and fired until I thought I had it shooting around 280. At the time, I had the velocity adjuster turned all the way up.
when I chronoed for the first time today, I was dead on the money, 280. but, i noticed my velocity adjuster was turned all the way up.
So, I got to thinking, what if I opened the reg up more, maybe I'd get more veloctity out of it.

Yes if you turn the reg up your velocity will increase. You can then lower your velocity with the velocity adjuster.

Well, I turn the reg up two complete rotations, turn on the air and it started venting through
the little hole in the side. Turn off the air, turned the reg back to the position it was in,
turned the air back on and it still vented ... then it blew the O-ring out on the side.
Back to the drawing board.
P.S. Is it possible to take the PMI Pure Energy reg apart? Or, is this something I'm gonna
have to let PMI fix?

leave your velocity adjuster in the middle then adjust the reg till you get to the fps you want, then do minor adjustments on the velocity adjuster, if you hear a sound while you shoot like your out of co2 and your marker shakes, turn your pressure up and lower velocity adjuster
