I have got a really bad problem with decisions. And I am looking for my first gun since I am a newbie I don't know what I should get. I have decided a little bit on the spyder shutter but then I looked at all the reviews and I am a little worried about the roomers but hey there just roomers(I think I spelled that right) anyways I am looking at a price range of about $200-maybe $400. I was looking at an autococker 2000 but hey I am a newbie and my friends say that the maintainance(probably not spelled right) is a little hard, especailly for a newbie so I am looking for a gun with good maintanance. So I need a little help with this and any help wil be appreciated.

Thanks~

i dont know much about the guns, i hear good things about the tl + though, and with the money you are going to spend, you could get some kick *** upgrades i think, but as for your spelling you did a better job on maintenance(or how ever you spell it) than you did on rumors

i think its maintenance... but anyways.. i got a shutter now... and i like it alot more than my TL.. not to say the TL is bad either... but u should look into the future.. find out what u want to do with the gun then go from there cuz sometimes its better to go with the one with more mods.. but if u don't need those mods on a gun.. then its a waste of money... not sure if i'm making any sense

I have heard about the window on the shutter. is that a Bad thing. I am usually someone that will usually dive for a good bunker. And a good stock i guess. Well thanks for your replies. i am still looking at the shutter. I have looked at the PMI pirahna STS and that looks good but still not sure. anyways will keep on looking.

oh yah and how does the reg work on your shutter?

BLiNDMAN

it works okay.. but u can't turn it lower than 600psi or your gun will sputter like crazy(i tried) i want to get a new valve to see if i can turn the reg down sum.. but so far its been pretty consistant for me... so far(from what the guys at the pb store in my area told me) only 2 companies make valves for the shutter: check-it and shocktech

Thank god its not too late whatever you do dont get that damn shutter unless you want problems. I know alot of people say the shutter is great ,but thats because thats the only gun they have ever owned. I suggest this and I am not against spyders its just in the past week i got a shutter and i was so happy Then i tryed to use it and the damn thing would leak through the barrel and would not recock. I checked and replaced all the o-rings and the cup seal and no i did not harm the valve body. I also tryed 2 different co2 tanks and it still didnt help. So now I returned that spyder shutter that i payed 215 $ for and I got A Tippmann Model 98. I am so happy i decided to return my shutter instead of getting it fixed because this M98 is so sweet and you can do so many things do it. Check out http://www.m98center.com and click how-to link to see how amny kick *** upgrades you can do to this gun. For 125$ this Tippmann Model 98 doesnt even need upgrades it already comes ready to kick some *** and it im gonna do a new paint job on it and get a rear velocity adjuster installed also with a double trigger and a chrome guard. Im also gonna chrome all the screws polish the internals and sand paper the stock barrel till it is silver. But I wouldnt reccommend polishing the barrel unless you already have a kick *** barrel Like the Lapco Bigshot. This is what i did Felix I got this: The Tippmann Model 98 with a Lapco Bigshot barrel a Rear Velocity Adjuster which is simple to install and a double trigger with guard i wouldnt recommend this to you since your new and i wouldnt think u would wanna cut your old guard with a dremmel but trust me its worth it. I got the tippmann because im not afraid of getting it dirty because unlike the shutter i can dive from bunker to bunker without getting dirt in the bolt. I can also take out angels which i already did with my M98. And this guy was good to his name was O'Donnel the most feared guy on the field and i got in a shoot out with him and i took him out with the model 98 that tells you how accurate and what a good effective range this thing has. I was gonna get a TL+Plus but i decided to get the M98 and glad i did because the day after i got my M98 I went to my field(Field Of Fire In Orange County California checkout the site at http://www.fieldoffire.com) and I asked a kid about his Tl+ he said the first time he used it he also had problems and he asked if he shoot my gun at the target range and he told me "my gun was pretty damn accurate for the price" It only cost 125.95 at http://www.shop4paintball.com and you should get a new barrel preferably the Lapco Bishot because it is very accurate and outperms some Dye Boomsticks and Only cost 49.95 at http://www.paintballbarrels.com with free shipping. The only drawback to the Lapco and M98 is that they are kinda loud , but that is better because the newbies get scared of you! So My conclusion is if u wanna pay more money for a gun that may have problems but performs like a Model 98 get the TL+ or shutter ,but if you wanna great gun at a cheap price with great accuracy and durability and you can have fun with upgrading and customizing yourself (even a newbie can upgrade on this gun its that easy!) Then Purchase a Tippmann Model 98 and trust me you will be happy and you will kick some serious ***.

If you have your heart set on the spyder, get the TL. The shutter is just not worth what you are paying for. You end up replacing the cheap reg, and expansion chamber anyway. Get the TL and buy a separate reg. Otherwise, I recomend Pirahna's and M98's.

Why people buy the shutter, I don't know. I guess people just don't understand that you can upgrade a compact 2000 to a shutter and end up with better parts and have a gun that you would enjoy. But thats just my opinion.

gastebucher have you considered that your shutter may have been defective? just because yours sucks doesnt mean his will, you cant just ignore all the satisfied shutter owners

just my 2 cents

we werent debating how hard it would be to maintain a spyder, plus cam neither you or i have ever seen a spyder perform, and my third and final point, nate probably couldnt maintain a spyder, and im assuming that felix is alot smarter than nate

ok I have narrowed it down to 2 guns that I think are good and they are the Autococker 2000 and the spyder tl+. I don't know which you would suit me better I have felt the feel of an autococker but not a tl(yet) any ways Would some one help me out. I also chose these guns because they do not need that many upgrades and for the tl+ is good maintenance and the autococker as I have heard is hard maintenance but hey I think I can handle that anyways I have friends with autocockers that would lend me a hand with mantenance so I am really stump well I haveuntil the 20th to make up my mind. Appreciate your help.

Thanks

well it kinda depends on how much money you wanna spend think about how much you will be using it, its just a thought, but it seems like a win win situation, if you get the TL seems to be low maintainence and your friends can help you maintain the cocker if you get that

yeah I know I have help and the price range I am looking for is good and another thing is that If I do get an autococker, it is also so good right out of the box. and for what I have heard the Tl isn't. So it could just be theres or something.... well I am still deciding somewhat and I was looking on ebay last night and I saw some sweeta** deals on autocockers. so I might do that. maybe.....

Thanks for the help.....

The tl+ isnt bad out of the box, but the cocker is definatly better. Since you have the money and you got friends that know what they are doing, get the autococker.

Definately in the name of everything holy go with the cocker. It is a far superior gun to the spyder, and though the maintenance involved can be very intimidating at first, within time you can learn how to make due with it, and you'll have absolutely no problems at all. A thing to consider is this, say you buy the spyder, you keep playing paintball and become more serious about the game. You want a gun with great performance now and you're even considering tournaments. Well, you're gonna have to ditch that Spyder pal. I know because I've gone the same route, and I no longer use my Spyder. With the auto cocker, not only do you get a better gun out of the box, but you can continue upgrading it to the point that it is a top level tourney gun. And that's something you just cant do with a spyder no matter what you put on it. As for help with your guns, everyone should check out the forums at paintballcity for your specific gun. They have individual forums for the Spyder, M98, Shocker, intimmy, angel and the people in there can hep you with any problem you might be having (Such as maintenance). Definately go with the auto cocker, you wont be sorry that you did
