I recently took my gun apart to install a forward ASA and accidentally yanked a PDS wire off the on/off switch. No problem, I took it to my local shop and had them fix it for 15 bucks. While I was there I also asked them to fix a pinched wire on the sensor eye.
When I got it back they had done a good re-soldering job, but instead of using shrink-tubing it looks like they just used hot glue or something to cover the contacts (a little messy but it looked like it worked).
I was cool with this until I went to the field to shoot and the gun was acting like it was seeing no paint even when there was definitely paint in the breech. It was also only doing this some of the time until I broke one in the breech and then it stayed like this permanently. I was very confused by this because usually when I get the eyes all gunked up it acts like there's permanently paint in the breech not the other way around.
My question is what should I be looking for. Should I be looking for a poorly soldered contact or perhaps a spot where the wire is contacting the metal frame and causing a short? Also since I'm getting tired of dealing with it I was considering getting a bonebrake wiring harness but I was wondering if I had to know soldering to install it. I'm guessing that the problem is with the sensor eye (that's the clear one right?) and not the transmitter.
