I dont know what gun to get the Compact 2000 or 98. I like playing front to middle and love slinging paint at people. Which is easier to disamble and clean.

well i know most people, including myself will say that the compact 2000 would be much easier to field strip and clean, but instead of getting the compact 2000, maybe consider the PMI Piranha VTL(I know, isn't it amazing, me, promoting PMI products) Since you want that ease of cleaning and taking apart, this is pretty close to the compact 2000, and from what I have heard, it may be a little better of a gun. Now, i'm not speaking from experience because I have not owned either gun, but i've heard that the vtl is a better choice than the compact 2000. Of course, I think the Model 98 is better than both, but since you want the ease of cleaning the gun, I think either the Compact 2000 or the PMI Piranha VTL would be a good choice.

I'm getting a new marker too and I was stuck between three main choices: Kingman Spyder Shutter, Tippmann Model 98/98 Custom, or PMI Piranha STS G2. I found a lot of information on each and I decided to get the M98 Custom because it has a lot of cool upgrades like the R/T and Flatline, and it is also very durable.
If you decide to go with the M98, first go to your local paintball store and pick up the marker and see how you like the feel of it because some people don't like the "tommy gun" design. If you don't like the marker's design, then consider the Shutter or Pro/Carbine. Remember, it's your choice - get what you like.

Good point, pick a gun that you like, and as you see he has narrowed it down to the compact 2000 or the m98, I am not really sure if the shutter is in his price range(no offense, but both of the guns you are planning on getting are under 150). So again, like ryan said, get what you like, but I just threw the Piranha in there as another alternative.

You can get a much higher rate of fire with the m98, and you wont really need to field strip eather gun because they are both pretty reliable. Out of the box the spyder will be more accurate than the m98. My spyder classic stock barrel is a lot nicer than my friends stock m98 barrel. You will be able to shoot a lot more a lot faster with the m98, but u might not hit anything ;)

HEHE....I would go with the Model 98 also, and not to be rude or anything, but his question wasn't which gun you would get, but which gun would be easiest to take apart and clean. From what I have heard the spyders and piranha's are easier to take apart. That doesn't make them better guns, but that just answers his question.

Hey man I stayed on the last forum and posted 500 times and then we switched hear. In all that time I have never seen someone pick a 2000 over and M98 nor a piranah. I like the M98 for durability and quality out of the box. As long as you read the manual frankly the gun isn't that hard to take apart. I like the 2000 for price and light wieght but I would trade that for an M98 because it isn't too hard to clean plus it can be upgraded up the yinyang and can become accurate but the best and most redundent point is get what you like!

As you see right here kallen...he is asking which one is easier to take apart. And I answered that the Compact is easier to take apart. So maybe you should learn how to read. I'm not sayin by any means that the Compact 2k is better, but like i have been stating the whole time, I WAS ANSWERING HIS QUESTION.

GAG!!!!!!!! DONT GET DA CUSTOM!!!!!! ITs A FRICKIN $200 FOR A RIGGED M98!!!!!! dude, u have to buy all those frickin upgrades for it! they arent free! also, u can buy a RT system or electro system or a full auto system for da regular m98! da m98 custom is just a stupid rigged piece of bum. im not saying dat tippmann is stupid, cuz i LOVE my m98. i personnaly dont think its hard to clean at all, and being a clamshell design, its super easy to upgrade! i mean, who keeps their stock barrel??? with a 2k and a m98 both getting new barrels, da m98 would be better.

lol....i think you are mistaken. The Model 98 custom is 121 dollars at http://www.paintballgear.com. That is cheaper than what I got my regular model 98 for. If i was in the market for a model 98, i would defenitly go with the custom. Unless you really like the gills, because the custom doesnt have the gills

o okay,
geez, only 121??? i saw it at paintball-online a while ago for $189!!! well, in that case, get da custom.

12-13-2000, 06:49 AM
The custom is cool in the upgrades department but not the price of the normal gun.

justin
12-13-2000, 09:09 AM
what...its cool in both. Its much easier to upgrade, and its the same price, if not cheaper at some online sites. Like i said, if you wanted the gun for looks, then the missing gills on the custom may upset you, but I don't know too many people who buy the m98 for looks

12-13-2000, 11:00 AM
Normal M98 are $120 the custom is $180-190. Isn't it?

justin
12-13-2000, 02:37 PM
nope....at paintballgear.com the model 98 custom(black only :( ) is selling for 121.95. That is a great deal, and I don't know how long it will last. countypaintball.com also has them for 140
