Hello. I was thinking about polishing my interals. However, I don't know if I should do it because:
a) I'm afraid I might break something and my whole thing screws up
b) I have no idea what it will do on my gun. (i.e. Will it improve performance?)
c) Should I just get a paper towel and keep rubbing?

use some scothc brite to smooth it out some and that is all that is neccesary

a full polish is kind of a waste

Use steel wool to polish it. the major thing is to remove any kind of paint that may be on the inside, especially near any moving parts. other then that, polishing improves the gun's performance very little. what does improve the performance is if you can't afford to buy a new barrel right away and are using the stock one, polishing that inside makes a bit of a difference. My friend did it and it works a bit better. just take a cloth and some straight stick (clothhanger will do once u cut it) and polish it for a bit.
P.S. DON'T FORGET TO OIL THE GUN AFTER POLISHING IT!

in theory the only thing that it could improve would be cycling smoother.
