The same as any other gun. Shooting hot is simply shooting over the fields speed limit. Now on cockers this can easily be done be hiting the cocking rod while shooting. That is why beaver tail's are required on cockers for tournies.

So really If I was out of range of someone with a flatline or in a bend where i needed a little extra distance i could push in on the Cocking rod while shooting to get some extra distance?

It would work, but that's a really good way to bend your cocking rod. Best bet if someone is out of range is to try and get better position. Doing that trick can cause you to break your marker, or worse yet someone could get hurt. This is not an accurate way to add velocity to a ball.
