i just noticed this but how do you change the velocity in the maverick/traccer/hornet/hammer. they all have just springs and stuff. i have read that you have to take the internals out to get to it. is this true?

you gotta take the gun apart, and yank the hammer out, then replace the main spring... having a large collection of cut and uncut nelson springs is a must for adjusting your velocity

You don't have to take it apart..
Well i didn't.you take off the barrel and use a long allen Key to adjust the bolt and the spring..this works great for small adjustments but for larger ones you have to change springs.
I never had to change springs..
You only ever have to change springs is if you go from indoor to outdoor. :P

what -Dusty- say is true but only for the deluxe version of this marker.
if you have the model of base, you must change the springs

yep yep
a key item when shopping for a nelson based pump is an "adjustable velocity" bolt... otherwise, clipping springs is the only way you can do it...

hehe the tune port compensator I think is what it's called. Just some fancy name or something. On a phantom changing the velocity is pretty easy. I don't know why people complain about it.
