Ram housing

i was reading up about the new designz ram housing. i had some questions about it. does it come with the slick shot ram? and what will it do for me if i buy one.

it'll basically just get you a couple more shots per fill. it doesn't come with the silk shot ram though, although it does come in a package with the silk shot ram and a mid wieght stainless steal hammer which kicks asses-when used with a lpr it can get you up to 500 more shots per fill.

I love Dave and his NewDesignz products, but.....

The ram housing will do very little (if anything) to help you out with performance.

It will actually look cool in your gun. But that's about it.

In fact when Goose tested a brand new Ram Housing with brand new Slick Shaft, and Brand new Rat Hole, he actually droped velocity from his standard housing, slick shaft, and Rat hole.

Not just a small drop, but around 20 FPS. Which would have required an adjustment in his LPR or dwell to bring it up to chrono.

Also, Unlike other upgrades, such as bolts, hammers, and valves, the ram housing (if it was more efficient) should increase velocity because the energy being used in it should be more readily transfered to the ram, but it wasn't.

Keep in mind this was only one test.

However, many of my past teamates have used them and seen little to no difference.


IMO -

If you want to look cool with a new color, get it.

If you want better performance, spend it on something else, like a Rip valve or a barrel kit.

Oh yeah I have a question but Im too lazy to start a new thread and I dont want to post it in another forum either so...


I still have my stock barrel and I was wondering If i only play at one or 2 fields and if in tournament its at one of the fields, so should I get a berrel kit and if so which one. If I dont get one I will prolly get a cp 2 piece and I guess If i ever need another back i can buy it later. or would you guys recommend geting another barrel, or just gtting a barrel kit now?

If the paint you buy always matches your progressive, then I would say that you don't need a barrel kit.

But since I'm sure the paint will vary, I would recomend a barrel kit. Even a cheap one with only a few major bore sizes will be better than only one.
