I dont thinkk a new bolt is necessary unless you're having blowback problems, just a waste IMO, use the money to buy something more important for now. Maybe when your completely done upgrading it, but not as one of your first ups.

what rtb said. If you already have PDS there is really no need for a new bolt it will not give you any real performance gain, spend the money better elsewhere like a new valve.

I'm sorry to have to ask such a stupid question, but there aren't really any stickies on this. What exactly does a better valve do besides lower the operating pressure?? I have a Shocktech B2K2 and I think it has a rat valve, but I'm not sure.

Regulated air flows through it and when ever the ram hits the cup seal stem, air is released up into and thru the bolt propelling a paintball.

I'm sorry I worded my question wrong. I meant what good will a new upgraded valve do?

Supafly bolts are a step back from stock. Their flow isn't as good as stock and if your stock bolt had blowback so will the Supafly.
An upgraded valve will mainly increase efficiency. Perhaps a bit to consistency, but not nearly as drastic an effect as to efficiency.

yep go for valve instead of bolt.
I think that aftermarket valves somehow use a design that increases the efficiency of the 90 degree turn that the air makes on its way up to the bolt, so it gets better flow that way. Also, it is wider. They can give you another 20 fps or so, a much bigger performance difference than what you would see with a new bolt.

Apparently you haven't used them too much then. I had one for a while and I had to up my PSI when it was installed moreso than I did with the stock bolt. I still had severe blowback as well. The only real difference from stock is the venturi, which is sort of silly because it doesn't really do anything.

Perhaps the 04s do. I was using one of the pre-2k3 bolts. Still a silly upgrade... you really need a forcefed hopper on a ICD gun anyway.
