Do we have a budget?

Im going to assume that the budget is small.

-Spyder victor for a mech
-Spyder imagine if hes got enough to outfit himself with all the other essentials
-Spyder AMG if hes rich and will buy your paint at the field

A PMI is a great starting gun.

1.PMI has great customer service.

2.They are really easy to take apart and clean.

3.They are extremely durable.

4.And they are just plain pimp.

The EVO looks nice.........but it stops there. It is a shotty product that is purely cosmetic. A PMI would be great.

pmi is a good company to buy a gun from

nobody ive seen with a pmi gun has had many problems

easy to clean- the black maxx is a prime example of the ease of cleaning, not a particulary good gun in itself, but easy to clean

Oh, you can't go wrong with PMI! My first Piranha lasted me 8 years... lubed it less often than I showered, which was at most a couple times a year... still haven't gotten rid of the smell completely...

I had this very question when I was looking for my first gun. But then I decided, "Why get a Spyder clone when you can get the real thing?"

I thought of that when I looked for my first gun as well...but then I realized, "There are no advantages to getting the 'real thing' (i.e. the spyder) so get whatever looks cooler".

Yeah, a pirahna would be great for your friend. They're cooler looking than spyders, maybe a litte more expensive though. Not to mention the fact that he won't be the same as every other spyder toting noob on the field.

One of my friends who I paintball with regularly has the Piranha GTI. It cost him about $119, and it has worked well for him. The volume level seems low compared to some of the Spyders in the group, and it has its own look which makes it stick out as compared to the dime a dozen Spyders. Additionally, many of the components such as the expansion chamber and barrel are made to a higher quality, and therefore are much better as a stock marker.

Honestly, Spyder boasts about expansion chambers and vertical feeds, but their quality on these is crap. Sure, they do have the parts, but there's nothing special about them. Their stock barrel is just a tube, just like any other blowback stock barrel. Their expansion chamber is a pipe. They're nothing special. PMI's not much better, but their service is better, and they generally have better quality. Honestly, there's no real point in getting an electric paintball marker unless you want to fork over the money to also buy an electric hopper. Even then, if you fill a 5" square with 5 paintballs or 15, does it really make a difference? The target is still hit, so I would say to go with a mechanical gun, unless you are going for speedball only in which case it doesn't really matter.

Piranha GTI-$119.95 (http://www.shopsplatattack.com/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=293)
This is the Piranha GTI at my local paintball shop. They have good service, and I would trust them.
16oz CO2 Tank-$23.95 (16oz CO2 Tank)
And I do not know whether he has a mask or not, but I would recommend him getting a comfortable thermal mask.

Good luck in your endeavour, and I wish you both well.

I'm a newb and I currently have a pmi ext pro and I love it! You can say that pmi are spyder clones, but there are differences. And this is for all you people who say "Why get a spyder clone when you can get the real thing?" If PMI were truly a clone there would be no difference!!! And all you spyder users would probably agree with me cause you would say spyder is better. How? there are differences. Now think of it. Is it a clone? NO. It's just similar.
Just so you know: I am not judging spyders because I can't because I never had one.

pmi is great. they cost more than spyders because they come better equipped. watch out though. i wouldn't get an evo for a first gun. i have an evo know. it is the 4th gun i had. their are hidden costs. n2, loader, barrel ect... you may just want to get a cheap spyder then upgrade it.

PMI came first. They made the second semi next to the SMG 68. Spyder is a pirahana clone.

PMI is a great compony. A piranha was my first marker. They have awsome customer service, A wide range of good guns, great manuals for begginers, and they have pretty decent upgrades.

tell your friend to go with the PMI. They are alot more durable than spyders. Don't let the plastic parst fool you. I've had mine for two years and it works just like it did when I first used it 2 years ago. Pirannhas came bafore the spyder.
