View Full Version : Coiled remote line?

I've seen some threads about remote lines in here and most of the feedback is pretty negative. I recently got a remote for my 98 but I kind of just got it without thinking about dropforwards and such. (Bad idea, huh?) :eyes:
I know it's mostly pref, but do you think I should try to return it for a drop forward?

Theres nothing wrong with a remote. They used to be popular but have faded since drops are the in thing. Its a preference. Before I got my drop I would use a remote on my tippy and it was great. Very light and it wasn't the lenght of a real rifle. The only catch was in the woods sometimes it would catch on crap.

Some people are going to say remotes are crap, some are going to say go for it, and others are going to say get what you want.
So I'm going to say get what you want. Although I'll give you a negative thing about both.
Drop:
-Makes your gun taller and balancing becomes an issue
Remote:
-Catches on items (bushes, branches, etc) and it's known to be inconsistant
Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try to borrow a friend's gun with a drop forward and see which one fits better.

What he said, but also, a remote makes switching shooting hands very inconvenient, if not impossible.

a coiled remote shouldn't give any significant trouble switching hands. I have a remote line on my tippy and i switch shooting hands just fine, albeit I don't switch that often.
Try using the remote line. Just make sure your line can take the output pressure of the tank.

Really? I would just switch hands behind my back or over my head.
Yet that would be fairly hard to do quickly.

Not to mention the added difficulty of trying to stay tight behind a bunker while passing a gun around your head. Would be interesting to watch, though.:D
I guess a long enough remote would make switching hands easier. However, the extra slack would increase the chance of getting hung up in brush.
I don't know what type of gas you use but one advantage that a remote has with CO2 is that it is arguably the best way to keep liquid CO2 out of your marker.
