ok in the back of a m98c there is that little black plastic think that holds the pin and spring wich hooks up to the hammer. If you notice it has two ridges on it [||] (something lilke that) well when I got my gun only one ridge was in the groove in the gun. The other groove was occupied by an O-ring. Well I got frustrated with the O-ring (always left it out when I would assemble my gun) so I threw it away. OK question is: should I put the plastic thing in my gun so that both ridges are in the grooves- or should I only have it half way in so that only one groove is in?

the way you have it set up now, is the end cap sticking out of the gun?? It shouldn't be, it should be flush with the back. Well, not totally flush but it should be in the gun. I have both groves in the gun. Thats how it came orginally.

I fixed it so that the pin holder aparatus' rings (both) are in the grooves. It feels better when I cock it, more solid. I just don't get why tippmann sent me the gun with an o-ring back there? It didn't sereve any function whatsoever as far as I could tell.
oh well it's fixed now.

my thinking in the o-ring was that it was a cusion for when the bolt came back durring firing.

thats what I thought too but the thickness of the o-ring wasn't large enouth to rise out of the grove. the bolt would slide through it.

The o-ring is supposed to sit loosely around the spring at the very back resting against the end cap. This makes it so when the rear bolt blows back it will hit the o-ring and not your end cap which could mess it up. And yes, the two grooves in the end cap are supposed to go into the two grooves in the end of your gun.

but if the two grooves on the plastic aparatus are in, then there is no place for the 0-ring.

put the o-ring back in t and leave the in cap in the 2 grooves

you can crack your end cap without it

just set it right up against the inner side of the end cap and htat is the way it should be
tippmann must have done somthing wrong at the factoryy

also because itwas incorrectly assembled your drive spring may be bent now if it is i would get another

ok, well I threw away the o-ring a while ago. I did however put 4 tiny squares of foam tape on the N,S,E,W points on the end cap. My spring does not appear to be bent.

yea its supposed to be a cushion. theres no set place for u to put it, its supposed to be loose around the spring and pin. once u start firing it'll go to the back near the end cap and stay there.

I usually just put a dab of oil on the o-ring when I reassembly my gun to hold it to the endcap, seems to do a pretty good job of holding it there most of the time.
