View Full Version : some interesting finds...
i got in contact with a guy on a local college forum who was selling all his old paintball equipment. He said he had tons of spyder parts, an angel, some e-hoppers, etc. I told him to meet me at work and he brought a bag FULL of goodies. i only had 80 bucks on me at the time, so i only bought the obvious things i wanted to try and upgrade my orion with. I bought an expansion chamber with the guage, a drop forward and a new grip, with short pull trigger (well its stock trigger pull, but its a helluva lot shorter then my orion pull, thats for sure  ). anyways i had heard that parts for the spyder fit my gun, so i rushed home afterwork and immediately started tearing my gun down. The expansion chamber doesnt fit because where the line ran previously, htere is a hole that doesnt match the threads. my friend said i would probably need a verticle feed adapter...or something like that. the grip basically bolts up, but the main problem is the 'teeter totter lever' that catches the bolt to keep it cocked is slightly too short. so im taking my grip to a machinist at my fathers factory to get a new piece made, of course a higher one so it catches the bolt. If this sorta thing has been covered, then by all means please point me in the right direction :) thanks...and ill keep you guys posted on project Schwarzer Stern

im pictureing the expansion chamber..... is it the gas line threads or the male threads that are different...becauser if its the male u need a female adaptor...20 bucks at actionvillage
okay imagine the orion in your head. when you unscrew the forgrip and take it off, your left with the steel braided line going from the drop forward to the bottom of the gun where the foregrip just was. when you unscrew the line from the bottom of the gun, there is a relatively large, threaded hole. the threads for the expansion chamber jiggle around in the hole on the bottom of the gun because its so much smaller. is there a fitting that will run from the big hole on the bottom of the gun, down to a smaller hole that the expansion chamber with screw into?

"the threads for the expansion chamber jiggle around in the hole on the bottom of the gun because its so much smaller"
Is it possible to just put a crap load of teflon on there?
:twocents:
If i were you, looking to up a gun that almost upless, id save the money and get a spyder or something thats a little more "upable". Then use ur VL as a backup gun or sell it to a noob.
yea ill probably leave it stock. to be honest, i really am not crazy with shooting paint. a 1000 balls will last me 2 FULL days of paintballing.

Dude...hate to say, but it sounded like you need to do some research before you went off just buying things for your Orion. I to suggest not doing anything to the Orion, just sell it, or keep it as a back up to a newer gun thats alot more upgradable.
no, i was told that most spyder parts fit. i guess that was most of the parts i DIDNT buy lol:laugh: ... anyways i think im going to save for another gun, and just use this for now. Probably the evil omen or pirahna Evo.

the hose threads on BE and VL markers at the access to the bottom of the receiver/body are left hand threaded and larger. I'm thinking of getting an expansion chamber for the my Afterburner - I'm sure I'll need and adapter. I've been snooping around the parts and diagrams sections of Dropzone's website as well as on the BE and VL websites. There is an adaptor for about $26.00 (not sure on shipping) to add any sort of gas-thru device. I'll see if I can find the specific part and model of gun it's made for.

OK. I'm not 100% positive but I think the part you'd need is part #39 for a VL Genesis 2a on the Drop Zone website. you can check out the photo of the part ($20.00) and then the marker diagram for the Genesis 2. Perhaps the best thing to do is get some company rep advise on the BE or VL websites? The lower section of the gas thru on the Genesis diagram looks as if it too might be "proprietary" ?!?
Good luck!
