I just got back from one of my local paintball stores, and man, I'm glad I learned a good deal of my knowledge on paintball guns, etc. on the net. I walked in, looking to shoot an impulse. He takes the gun off the rack and he asks why I want a high-end gun like this. I say, "because I like it." Anyway, he begins to tell me about how a shocker would be better because it operates the same way as a cocker and shoots farther (where in the world did this myth get started? It's everywhere! I think guys like this pass it on to the next generation). He also tells me that the Impulse will ONLY work on Co2... (okay, this guy is driving me nuts about now). He says that he had seen an impulse box with a big yellow paper stuck to it saying "no high pressure" or "no high pressure air" (I can't recall exactly what he said) I'm assuming that the sign meant don't turn the reg above it's low operating pressure. But he says that they tried shooting the impulse, in that box, with HPA and it wouldn't work, but Co2 would. Okay...
So he goes and gets the box for the one he just took off the stand for me (to try to show me the yellow paper), but there isn't one. Hmm... so then he asks me what other guns I've been looking at... cockers, mags, bushies, etc. Somehow the conversation gets over to bushies. He says you have to use a dual reg on a bushy. He also says something about having to get a new regulator for the bushy if you want to use a preset. I tried telling him that this was with the older bushies, but his opinion was set. He is on one of the top ranked teams in the state and mentioned that he has a dark angel. Maybe it was because I was younger than him... I don't know. I tried to sway him on some of his "facts", but he IS the "guy that works in the paintball store." Well, that's the end of my story. Ugh.
