Alright ive got lots of questions.

I just got my new ANS Gen-x reg and im usign the guage that came with it and when im not gased up the needle sits at about 25-100 but never at zero, anyremedy? and does this mean my reading when i AM gassed is in-accurate?

Next,

When im gassed my psi is like 500 and when i shott it temorarily goes to 600 well thats almost in the red so i decided to try and set the reg a little lower. So i set it lower and when i was gased it was safely around 400 however my first shot the gun went full auto, i had to unscrew the tank to remedy the problem. Besides being quite annoying i had about a half full hopper and my guns DEFINETLY not full auto compatible so i was spewing paint like crzy chopping balls and requiring a MAJOR cleanup. Now i was VERY low on co2 (sigh yes c02 still) so that could have been the problem. But if not any ideas.

Continuing

Like i said my PSI is what i beleive vcery high. Is 500-600 pretty high? I'm almost in the red of the guage. Youd think that id pretty shooting pretty hot with such a high pressure but im mearly lobbing the paint. Again this is most likely just a factoir of being out of co2 but if not whats up? Should i just set my velocity higher? Or adjust my reg?

So basically i just need info flooding in about High pressure, reg adjustment, anything youve got. Thanx yall. I really appreciate having a place for questions whre i can get positive input from other players.

P.S- VERY soon i should be running Nitro so that should take care of some of my problems. Also i imagine yall might need some facts to help determine anything. Im using an ANs Gen-2 Reg on my Piranha BTL G2, with a 12 oz co2 tank thats almost empty. And no there is no anti-siphon. Pretty Lame eh? ill have nitro soon

the gun going full auto means the reg is set too low which means your gauge on the reg is reading incorrectly.... turn the reg back out to where it doesn't go full auto and dis regard the gauge or get the reg's gauge replaced sides most aftermarket gauges are inaccurate...someone did a study on aftermarket gauges using a precision gauge as a reference and most gauges were 35-150 psi off even when the gauges apeared to be operating corectly..

Time for a new guage, take that old one, put on a table, put on some safety goggles and smash it with a hammer. That thing isnt doin you any good at all, go out and buy a micro guage, they're smaller, and pretty accurate in my experiences

on my gen-x2(I say that just so you know I have the same reg.....the first two lines are connected and it says 0 next to them.....my needle sits at the first line after that...

It could be sputtering because you are low on co2...
get a fill...and like they said ...disregard what it reads...and just set it so it doesn't sputter...
Here is what you do...
1...get a fill
2....turn your vel adj. to about half way....
3....gas up your gun and set your reg all the way up..
4..fire a few shots and check you FPS.
5 lower your reg alittle and fire a few more shots to get it to "set at the new pressure"
6. check vel..
7. repeat steps 4 - 6 until you see your shots start to drop off and thenm turn your reg back up a bit...
8 ahjust your vel as needed with the vel adjuster..

You will now have it set at the most efficient setting for your marker (until you go LP...;))

Alright yall finally go a c02 fill. New probs. So i set it up to where its not goin full auto on me (which destroys my o rings). So i gass up my gun its around 550 psi. i fire a shot. PSSSSSSHHHH. The guage hits 650 and drains out the bottom of the reg until its down to 550. Thsi process takes about 12 seconds and its hella noisy, and im SUreits not good for my gun or reg.? I can keep tweaking with the reg. but im afraid ill run out of o rings soon. Any suggestions. (so far i am not hapy with this reg : ( i imagine its just got some bugs that need fixin tho : )

hmmm, i don't trust ANS, if problems continue, get either a PMI or a stablizer or got nitro and get the almighty Vilgilante

sounds like maybe you have liquid co2 getting into the reg...that or one of the o-rings inside the reg is leaking...they give you a set with the reg ...so I would check that if it is leaking out the bottom of the reg

Just be careful taking it apart...and do it slowly..and watch how the parts come out so you are sure to get them back in correctly.....

http://www.g3pb.com/ has a pictures of the reg and how it goes together check it out....under prodjects/tips....about regulators...

and I should mention....if you e-mail them with your problem ...Terry will get gack to you....he is very good about that..

Alright im going to keep up this little progressive story. heres the newest update. i totally disasemble my entire gun gun AND Reg i oil clean change o rings etc. So im reassembled and im going to try it out. Screw in tank... alright a nice "pssst" sound was made as the co2 was connected, guage reads 450. So far so good. Now for the suspensefl part. slowly pull trigger, BAM! no full auto no large guage fluctuation. Again BAM, BAM, BAM, and so on for about 5 shots. Now the guage has moved up a little. So i fire about 40 consecutive shots and watch the guage. Slowly but surely the guage rises and keeps rising until its almost at 600 psi! i dont beleive this is the norm. Arent regs supposed to keep CONSISTENT pressure? Any ideas anyone?

Well they are supposed to, but then again what can you expect from ANS. My suggustion would be to return the Gen x and get a more reliable and consistant reg, which would cost less also.

:::Sigh:::: What would you suggest?

For co2, I would suggest a Palmers stabilizer.

here's what they say your problem might be

Fluctuation problems, velocity creep up, etc. Probably cruddy seat. Piston may need
cleaning and lubing. All Regulators need proper lubrication to maintain proper operation
and consistency.

With a full gun strip down and a proper reg loobing (sp?)its working fine. Or appears to be. I still need to take it to a chrono though. Sigh... However im stilll happy with my purchase :)

you should be happy...it's a great regulator.....and it looks good too....
