A lot of times in paintball, you are forced to shoot from both sides of a bunker. This means you will have to shoot with your less dominant hand. Does anyone have some tricks to learning how to get used to shooting with your left hand (or right hand if your a lefty)?

I'm right handed, and I hate shooting with my left hand, but I realize I have to at least get used to doing it ... Can't always shoot out of the right side of the bunker.

Muck:

I know what u mean! I was playing a little one on one in my back yard, and i tried shooting from the left side of the tree i was behind. I missed the guy by 10 feet, and got shot 3 times. Ever since then i have been carrying my gun around the house with my left hand, trying to get the feel for it.

I've been practicing left hand shooting and snap shooting ... Before I injured my knee I'd try leaning out the left side of the bunker, and my aim was so pitiful ... I didn't get hit but then again, I wasn't getting anywhere near my target.

thats exactly what you should do mewroq, just hold it with your less dominant and get yourself used to it :D great technique for snap shooting from both left and right

Alright yall this may sound weird but do it, it works.

I hate having things on my wrist so i carry a pocket watch. Everyday i have some pens and pencils in my pocket for school. Before my watch i always carryed them in the right pocket, however i didnt want to scratch the watchs face. So i started carrying my pens and pencils in my left pocket and reaching for them with my left hand. Now instinctivly i use my left for a lot more stuff. Mouse clicking opening doors etc. It really helps with paintball to. I would highly suggest something similar to this

I can't get used to using my left hand for anything (other than typing :D). It seems my right hand is the very dominant hand and whenever I try to use my left hand for any activity it doesn't work out.

in that case you gotta carry a real big stick and hit your hand when it does anything wrong :D

i play equally well left and right handed (naturally right handed) the secret is to use your left hand more. When you go out to the recball field play every other game with your left hand. It really helps, also, don't be afraid to switch hands when shooting out the left side of a bunker. It really isn't that hard, just takes some conscious thought in the beginning. Just like learning to type with your non-dominant hand, you have to learn to shoot with your non-dominant hand... YOU CAN DO IT ;)

I never think about it ,seems i just do it really. But if i where to try and do it not in the game i suck. But i left handed so its my right that blows.

I encountered this problem and I usually just dump the gun on it's side because my gun is hopper right the balls naturally fall down toward the gun .... yeah you risk the chance of getting hit in the hopper but I have found that if you're pinned in a bunker that bad then you probably need a hope and a prayer to get out anyway.

What is snap shooting?

snap shooting is used while u'r pinned down in a bunker and u pop out real quick, lets some shots go and then pop back in

oh, and i am terrible at shooting lefty, my ROF goes from 8 to like 3 ....at best

I can shoot as well left or right handed, and snap shoot equally fast and accurately. The secret for me, was just to shift your tank to the other shoulder, but still using the same hands. Takes almost no getting used to, and you'll be shooting like a pro in no time. I find I just cant get an extremely high rate of fire that I like getting with my right hand, when using my left hand. So just switch shoulders, easy as pie, and offhand shooting is one of the most useful skills in paintball, your game will improve alot

snap shooting is really easy, but takes practice and development of your technique. The best way to do it, in my opinion, is: 1)know where your target is; 2)aim your gun at a spot on the inside of your bunker that is relative to the target; 3)rock out and you should already be on target, if not, then adjust your point that you aim at inside your bunker until you can just rock out and be on target without having to "aim" again. I hope this made sense, it really works well.

What Monkey said, plus, I'll start shooting at the inside of the bunker so that when I pop out, I'm firing, hopefully on target.

i have my tank offset left so when i snap shoot left i should my tank on my left and the gunis basicly centered in my body. from this postion it is easy to lean out and shoot while keeping your right hand on the trigger. My ROF accually goes up when i lean left b/c i can really rap on the trigger from this position.

Become a drummer, then you'll have to know how to use both hands, especially if you play drumset :)

Damn, I'm glad I don't have to worry about this... I am naturally ambidextrous. I'm a little more comfortable shooting left handed, but I can achieve the same ROF and accuracy with my right. I actually practice with my RIGHT hand to try and get more comfortable with it. It's really nice being able to shoot with either hand, but especially left. People expect you to come out the right, plus if you're stuck behind a bunker with another person it's nice to be able to just take the left and let them take right.
I'm ambidextrous, but I don't do all things equally well with each hand. I:
Bat right handed, can't swing worth a damn with left.
Throw left handed, can't throw with my right.
Write right handed, can't write with my left.
Shoot left handed, but CAN shoot either way.
My left hand is a little stronger, but my right hand is more articulate. It always pisses people off when I arm wrestle them and JUST beat them with my right and then cream them with my left. I wonder, if right-handedness is the dominant gene, and left-handedness the recessive, why are people ambidextrous at all?

I dont know why but I am blessed with the ability to shoot either way with no difference in performance. I am right handed but for some wierd reason I prefer to use my left hand as a shooting han and my right to stabalize and aim the gun. But if I use a pistol, i use my right hand. I can shoot just as well right handed though. It is just a little wierd feeling. But for a wierd reason I kick all my freinds buts when it comes to shooting. It like I was born with a wierd ability.

well, after 2 days of basically non stop practicing, i feel pretty comfortable with my left hand, and at times it even out shoots my right!

This probably has nothing to do with the topic, but i recall an ambidextrous baseball pitcher. They did a quick interview with him, while he was going into the locker room, they asked him " How do you do it?! ". His reply, " Cause i's be Amphibious! ", you should have seen the interviewers face.
