The SL 68 is a great pump gun. What else would you expect with Tippmann reputation. The Phantom is also a nice pump, but I think you'd be happy with either one.

Ps.

Has anyone used one before... I can look at the reviews and they say great things about the gun but I'm a little skeptical...

The worst thing about those guns is that the barrels are hard to get. Country paintball is one of the few places that I've seen that offer barrels for this gun, and they only have the JJ ceramics. The smartparts AA was also made for it but is difficult to find, I think they no longer make them so you'll have to find one used. The other thing that I hear alot about on the SL is that its fairly heavy for a pump gun, but its built like a tank. If you haven't actually held one yet then I would suggest going to proshop that has one and asking to hold it.

The SL-68 is a great gun. I've been playing for a long, long time, and I've used many Tippmanns in my 13 years of paintballing. The SL is just a reliable, reliable gun. I am waiting now for a JJ barrel to arrive... I'll let you guys know how that turns out - I have high expectations.

As for weight, I don't find it to be a problem. It is a SOLID gun - feels like you could drop it from 5 stories up and have no problems. You will get some occasional ball-choppage if you are really hammering on the auto-trigger, but I think that is to be expected.

I've also used the phantom. Undoubtedly a great gun in its own right. Very smooth. A bit pricey, however. I actually have found that the accuracy is greater with my SL than it was with Phantom's I've used - ESPECIALLY in terms of auto-triggering.

Pumps rule.

Just thought I'd add a quick update. Got the J&J barrel, and I have mixed feelings about it. I've seen only VERY slight differences in accuracy. And, I hate to admit it, the J&J does not seem like a good cold weather barrel. We've been playing quite a bit in the snow, and I've had better luck with my stock barrel!!
The SL is still performing flawlessly. I figure as long as I keep cleaning and oiling the gun after each use, I'll be able to hold on to this for quite some time... I must admit, though, I've been tempted to buy an old Bushmaster pump from ebay... Remembering the first time I ever heard someone light up an auto-trigger STILL gives me the chills...

I love my SL68II. It has never let me down (unlike my A-5).... well to the point, Lapco is releasing a BigShot barrel for the SL in Feb. this should be a good addition to the SL. Maybe you can sell the JJ and get a lapco, it's got to be good.
