Definetly take off mask. Alot of the others will only lead to people making fun of you or your image. Taking off your mask can make you blind...forever

Yup, but taking off a mask is not only a Newbie mistake, a lot of experienced players also do this ... It's the single worst Screw up you can make, and the consequences are Horrendous.

Taking off your goggles is definatly dangerous but not only newbies make tthat mistake, probably the worst one is givin up you should keep on tryin even tho u not the best even like Jordan had 2 start some where.

Taking their maks off is the worst thing any player, new or old, can do. I have to constantly remind new players to keep their masks on. They just dont understand how important it is. I can forgive them for most anything, even shooting me despite my orange shirt which says REF on the back. But taking their masks more than once isnt just a newbie mistake, its an idiotic and dangerous mistake.

but #2..has got to be cheat....

True Watupi ... it only takes one fool pulling up his mask, getting hit in the eye, permanent damage ... to pull every anti-gun, anti-paintball, anti-everything avenger out of the woodwork and into the Lawmakers' halls. There's a reason we wear a mask when we're on the field, dont' think for a minute that it's cool to take it off until you get into a safety zone. I've been gogged so bad I couldn't see out of my mask, so I asked someone to lead me off the field, there's no shame in it. Your mask foggs up so bad you can't see out of it, call a Ref over, there's no shame in it. Promote safety on the field and off the field ... I'll get off my soapbox now.

I know that the mask issue is very serious it still bugs me the most when a newbie shoots me when I'm on their team. One time I ended up shooting a newbie on my team 'cause he started firing at me and I freaked out and thought somehow the enemy got behind me. So I spun around and shot him in the chest. If he wasn't so young I probably would have marched up there and beat his arse.

Weeeell... I voted for taking off the mask (come on, people!). But one thing that bugs me, which is something that not only newbies do, is leave when they run out of paint/air. As long as you're still in the game and the opponent doesn't know, you're still valuable to your team. You can still safety somebody, you can still at least PRETEND to lay down cover fire, and who knows, maybe someone'll be a sport and lend you a pod. I've done this for my friends, just let them refill it from THEIR supply after the game. It especially gets me when someone who is guarding a vital spot or whatever goes out because they're out. At LEAST sit there and wait for someone to get brave and get you, at least you'll have bought time for your team.

Well yesterday i had a newbie with me her ran out of air. He started to get up and leave.I told him man this is what you do keep poping up draw fire and then move too another spot.keep doing it and draw fire well we won that game and he never got shot.He came up later said he'll remender that stuff. I told him same goes with paint just keep poping off blanks be sirprise at how many will duck back when you do .

Definetly taking of their mask. I sometimes encourage newbies NEVER to take of their mask because of the bad things that can happen. Thats why i think that you should get an Anti-fog mask to prevent reasons of taking off there mask.

Definatly taking off the mask, but for second it would have to be shooting yourself pointblank in the palm. My friend did this and he had little pieces of paintball in his hand for two weeks.

theres nothing wrong with using paint thats over a month old. ive used rps premiums that were 4 months old, left over in my garage in the winter, in under 32 degree conditions. and not one ball bust in my barrel, and no loss of accuracy. guess it shows how much quality is put into RPS paintballs

How about wasting a good earned 20 bucks ona blade that breaks after 2 uses...and gets u pelted...i use to be able to suicide charge my friend when he had a blade id get with 10 yards and he still couldnt hit me pretty sad.

Taking off the mask is just stupid, but habbits can be formed with constant reminder. It's everyones job on a paint field to make sure those reminders are constantly given. The worst mistake a newbie can make is giving up. You win some, you lose some, but never give up. If you truly enjoy the game of paintball, don't let a loss push you away from this great sport. Your not the best until you've beaten everyone, and every dog has his day. Aftershock loses games. Even I have good days. Never ever give up on your goals and dreams. It's the biggest mistake anyone can make, not just in paintball, but in life its self as well.

Horrendous and hilarious i think it is just funny that someone could do that one time i was playing and out of no where some newb comes out and yells out and take his mask right off and says dont shoot anyone and all of a sudden his own gun goes smack and he falls thew the top floor of the bunker and he gets up and runs intro a tree and gets bak up and throws his stingray into a bush and runs of the feild bleeding. it was funny but i sorta felt bad for him. it was a sad, sad day for human evalution:(

Newbies and Vets alike, masks are what make paintball a safe sport. If you are not wearing goggles can you imagine what could happen if you got gogged?

With goggles, paintball is one of the safest sports. Lets keep the sport safe and keep those goggles on.

basketball is the sport with the most injurys requiring a trip to the hospital...

I can believe that people get injured in golf... i play, but there are a lot of old fat guys playing... man if you dont stretch, you can pull something, get hit by a club, struck by lightning...

filasophikal

it has to be taking off your goggles... that is one thing, that i always enforce with my friends... they take it off... and yell at them to put it back on...

every other mistake... is what you see in tournments alot... especially getting out early... sometimes when i play front... im usually one of the first ones to get sweet-spotted... its either im too slow to run to the 30, 40, or even the 50... or i peek out to check out my opponent's positioning... when i play back... there's always one or two that get out on opening play...

Wasimodo
05-21-2001, 11:53 AM
As everyone has said, taking off the mask is the worst mistake because it's unsafe. But one other thing these kids were doing on Sunday was really pissing me off. There were 4 or 5 of them on our team of 20, and every round they would run to the closest bunker (on a huge field) and stand behind it the entire game. They would only move up as soon as there was NO chance of getting shot, and they never laid down any paint. And when our team was getting beat, they would just stand there at the way back bunker for the entire game until the enemy pushed forward and tagged them. The entire time I was thinking, "if you're not going to get in the game and you're afraid of getting shot, you don't belong here"...

iipaintballer
05-21-2001, 02:35 PM
Yeah, that is a pretty common newbie thing to do. I hate it when 3 or 4 newbies follow me up into my bunker and crowd it so much that we are pretty much open targets.

Spread out. Get good coverage. Lay out the paint.

KoRnMaN
05-22-2001, 07:47 PM

05-22-2001, 08:01 PM
i see alot of sponsored teams do this, 1 or 2 people don't fire at all, and when there is like 1 person left on their team, they pop out and start lobbing paint... what kind of strategy is that... talk about a dumb strategy...

Ill be damned if golf isnt more dangerous than paintball. After one of my friends and I finished 18 holes we were sitting at some picnic tables enjoying a smoke, next to the club house. The next thing I see, a golf ball hit him right in the side of the head. Knocked his *** out cold. The person's ball that hit him was our grade school principals of all people *lol*

taking off mask of course but I voted for swearing becasue there's nothing more pathetic than hearing a sixth grader spewing profanities that don't even make since. If you have to cuss, which I don't see the point anyway, at least have the intelligence to make sense.

my high school soccer coach has been struck by lightning three times while playing golf. Sucks to be him, he's still a great guy though. (wouldn't that be cool to play paintball on a golf course, don't modify it at all, just play on the course. first to capture all 18 flags and down a cherry coke at the 19th hole wins! WHOOOOO!!! you could use golf carts too!

1.taking off your mask
2. cheating, such as this ******* who used off-field paint at the first big game I played at the other day. He got the moron award of the day too, as he shot a ref with it :D. So he was singled out and shown to over 200 players.
I'm guilty of two of those tho, as my first game I was the first one out, as a stray ball flew into our castle and nailed me in the chest. I swore (pretty damn loud too) when people kept shooting me after my hands were up and my barrel plug in after a charge. I was about ready to clock one kid with the gun I was using (VM, that thing does damage too).

Taking off the mask. Taking off the mask. Taking off the mask. Taking off the mask. Read the thread. Read the thread. Read the thread. It's already been said. it's already been said.

There was this one newbie I was up against that was really resilient. I nailed him in the mask and he wiped it and kept playing. Another one of my teamates came up who had an E-blade (I didn't at the time) and we both unloaded on the freak together who was totally exposed. The idiot wouldn't come out as our paint exploded all over his face and body. It was just a little kid that wouldn't go out. We tried to call the ref, but the ref was a newbie as well and took his own sweet time getting to the git that was by now an assortment of colors. We were trying to flank the side before this retired pro backman got through the other. The ref took his time looking for the hit. I don't know what took the newbie ref so long to check him, the idiot was covered in paint. Finally when he called him out the newbie took off his mask as I was running to take his bunker and sweep the field. He then turned around and started shooting at me more. What the heck was I supposed to do now? All I could do was strafe as he unloaded on me. I couldn't shoot back though I was super tempted to just let loose. By the time the ref dragged him out of the game the pro backman (team rage retired oldy) was already on us and we were outnumbered. He unleashed his fury of paint and eliminated my teamate. I ran back and tried to find out where he was, but couldn't see him. The rest of the newbie players were taking pot shots at me. Not wanting to get eliminated by these fools I rushed toward wherever the EVIL paint was coming at me. I almost made it to a bunker that would of given me a chance but was eliminated in the process. That newbie that took off his mask delayed me for 5 minutes and it would of only taken 5 seconds if he counted the first shot I landed on him.

 I would indeed end your life if you (a noob) shot me as I was walking off the field and out. I didn't say bonus ball.

You see, in the paintball world, bonus balling is also known as over shooting, when you shoot someone too many times.

1. Taking their mask off in the middle of a game, even if they're turned around facing the netting and no balls are flying at their face, everyone that is shooting is behind them. I've seen some people start to lift their masks and get shot in the back, then whirl around with their mask half off!! Stupids... Needless to say, the refs rushed over and made a barrier-like wall around the kid so he wouldn't take it in the eyes.

2. Picking paint up off the ground. I did this a few months ago and gave it to a kid I hated really really bad. He actually used it too, haha.

if noobs get made fun of, they'll think to themselves "omgzorzz, everyone that playzorzz paintball is a jerkoffzorzz" and they will never play....zorzz again. and eventually when the experienced players get old and crusty, they wont be able to play anymore, and the noobies they made fun of wont either so the population of the sport goes down. plus even the EXPERIENCED players started from somewhere, that somewhere being a noob. and they also make fun of people because they dont have $900 guns because they can't afford it. well most these people with timmies, DM5's, stuff like that have jobs, and 12 year olds cant exactly get a job now can they? I just dont see who its helping to pick on newer players, sure they act stupid but you were at that point too. just think of the future of the sport. and remember; an eye for an eye, and soon the whole world is blind.
